State of Afterdawn

29 Jan 2006 18:44 (Edited: 29 Jan 2006 18:44)

It seems lately there are an abundance of people (especially in the PS2 forums) who ask repetitive questions and refuse to search. This is an ever increasing problem. There will always be people who refuse to search, that’s human nature. Most people are too lazy to look around, read the stickies at the top of the forums, and want their questions answered instantly, regardless how many times they’ve been answered in previous threads. Then they wonder why a lot of Afterdawn Addicts and Senior Members ask them to search before posting. I don’t flame too many people. Search my posts if you don’t believe me. But lately the laziness has come to a head. It seems like I answer the same three questions 50% of the time.

1. How do I burn PS2 Games?
2. Does the type of media I use matter?
3. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 games?

It’s enough to make me not want to help anybody anymore. It’s even more maddening when there are stickies in bold at the top of the PS2 DVD forums which answer those three questions ad nauseam. People want their answers now, and don’t care whose toes they step on in the process. I’ve been called a moron, idiot, know-it-all, and a lot worse for telling people to search. At some point I’m going to go off the deep end and tell everyone who asks a question to fuck off. It’s really reaching that pitch. I’ve passed up several opportunities to make mince meat of some teenager on these boards. I don’t enjoy shaming people, it’s not my nature. That being said, it’s a small percentage of people who’re like that. Most people on Afterdawn are considerate and friendly. However, it seems that more of these combative, impatient noobs have taken over the PS2 boards recently. It’s a shame. Afterdawn is a good site. It’s one of the best of it’s kind on the net. Unfortunately, people like that are pushing the knowledgeable members away in droves. Keep that in mind next time you want to post without searching first.

You got that right! Sometimes you have to cut and past your response, but even then that doesn't always work either. Help the ones who can be helped and forget about the whiney i want answers spoon fed to me now types. The good ones will listen, or wont even ask those types of questions. 2 words to you my friend. Safety Valve.. Its working for me. Had to leave Nero forum for a while because of the same type of crap..
Hang in there. You are helping some ppl and the others, F*ck em.

    Awww, whatcha moanin' about?

Joking, you are correct. Also, too many members are taking liberties as far as the forum rules are concerned and take the piss out of the relatively calm nature of the mods..
