If You're Not a Mod, Don't Act Like One.

05 Aug 2006 9:23 (Edited: 05 Aug 2006 9:23)

Good Lord, this one is way overdue. Lately, I've noticed a lot of wannabe mod's here. One member to another, someone barking orders or instructions at me doesn't fly. It annoys the shit out of me. If someone politely asks me via PM about a concern, that's one thing. But when they bark orders at me in a public forum- Fuck off!!!. You are not a mod, and with that attitude, you never will be. Moderators must be patient and respectful of other people, even when they don't deserve it. They have to know when to hold back, and when to take a stand. A mod must appear calm and collected, even when they're not. I was a moderator at Xtreme-Source.com for three months. That experience gave me a unique understanding of what they have to deal with. A truly professional moderator must treat all with respect, and never put personal feelings ahead of what's best for their site. I can honestly say I did that to the best of my ability. The way the forums are nowadays, I'm amazed how DDP, Darth, Creaky, Neph, and Herbsman do it. There's so many half assed ignoramouses running wild with BS posts to boost post counts and correcting others in a "friendly" way, it's a wonder the staff here doesn't go postal and blow someone's head off. Suggesting something and ordering something are different. A slight change in syntax makes a world of difference.

Example 1: Man Tokijin, your sig's a little oversized, you may want to change it.

Example 2: Tokijin, resize your sig please.

Notice the difference there? In example 1: you may want to resize your sig. That gives me a choice, as it is rightly my decision to modify the size of the sig. Example 2 is fine if it's coming from a mod. If it's from a fellow member, it means nothing. Two adults who respect themselves and each other, will not order the other around.

Lately, I've seen some petty shit here. If your main goal in life is reporting sig violations or other infractions, you might as well turn your skull into a pencil holder now. That brain's being wasted anyway, it won't be missed. You see the people with the catchy phrases like "lightning has struck!!!", signifying the end for suicidal X360 modders or idiots too weak to defend themselves who lead around other idiots? See the word moderator next to their title? Say it with me, M-o-d-e-r-a-t-o-r. It's their job to keep the buttplugs of the AD universe in line, not yours.

Yup.. I saw that argument too, from somebody who should know a lot better. Bad language? From you? That's almost a first.. Don't let it get to ya..It really isn't worth it. When I get like this I have a few days away..Or go find some real idiot and provoke them into a banning.. There are a couple of names that are still on my hitlist for next time I get annoyed. Just ignore them..They are so small minded that they have nothing better to do. PS.. My sig is very slightly oversize too. The way I look at the issue is this. As far as I'm concerned unless in total it doesn't exceed 200x500 then it doesn't matter. Mine is about 110x 450 with 2 lines of 10pt text..total size 138x450 and under 20kb.. Well inside my interpritation of the rules. Unless a mod or staff member tells me to do something about it, it stays as it is. That said I do report people for offensive language in sigs, and upsetting images..They should be neutral, and cause no offence.
    You know I have a point...lol

I curse like a sailor in real life, just not online. Yeah this really pissed me off, someone reported my sig for being 50 lines over the limit, because he had to get his up to code a few days prior. So like a first grader he taddled on mine to the mods. The person in question knows who he is. He's a bitch, who I have no respect for. I bend over backwards to help people here, and I get repaid by having to resize my sig? That's bullshit. I hope that person's happy. Really, if you get off reporting rules violations, you needn't be here. 95% of my posts are geared toward helping people, petty stuff like this just gets my goat. I'll move on. Got a lot more important things to deal with. I've gotten some nice PM's from people encouraging me on this subject, I appreciate the support.

Shit, I got busted twice in the last two weeks for my sig size. Never was a problem untill some random newbie came into a thread and commented on my sig size. The stupid shit didnt even add value to the thread, just told me I was breaking the rules. Do these little ass's just check out the properties of each sig they run into so they can run to Neph or ddp and feel special for getting us to change our sigs. Pisses me off to, wish I had a ban button.....

Ah man, the person in question reported my sig again. You know the mods respect him when they reveal who reported it lol. Anyway, worthless little shits like that will get what's coming to them. There's no point in lowering myself to that level. I have more important things to do. If you're reading this, my sig now says approved by DDP next to the picture. Any future sig reports will be referred to DDP with much sarcasm on my behalf. Honestly, I wondering why I bother here anymore. It seems like every nice thing I do is repaid with some asshole giving me the finger. Who needs that shit? Not me.

Orders don't work well on me either. I tend to....hmmm explode? what's the word? :P

if it makes you feel any better... Here is the complete paragraph that goes with example 1.

    Example 1:
    <random newbie>
    /typing away at computer
    /goes to afterdawn.com
/searchs on "ripping The Man Show"
/open other browser window to bullz-eye.com
    /touches himself
    /goes into safety valve
/types meaningless, random b*llsh*t on post
/opens another browser window to hardocp.com
    /looks for overclocking specs
    /flips back to afterdawn
/goes into Nintendo GameCube - General discussion forum
/types random b*llsh*t about why the first Zelda 's*cked hard'
    /touches himself
    /goes into Safety Valve forum
    /comes across interesting thread
    /sees Tokijin's SIG
    /right clicks SIG
    /see that it's > allowed site rules
    /touches himself
    /adjusts glasses
/posts msg "Tokijin, resize your sig please."
    /laughs
/looks over at pile of unlaundered clothes for past 2 weeks
    /looks at cellphone (no messages......*sigh*
    /picks nose
    /waits for Tokijin's response
    /5 minutes pass
    /waits for Tokijin's response
    /1 hour passes
    /waits for Tokijin's response
    /2 hours pass
    /waits for .......
OK, does THAT make u feel better? It's most likely what happens when n00bish arses come onto the site & randomly run their mouths

Keep things in perspective. I know you'll laugh these little sh*ts off. :P

LMAO, classic man. Maybe he's touching himself while reporting sig violations, that would explain a few things.
