I have again found the AMD building thread (youre probably wondering how I lost it - dont ask!). If you want (or would) answer my previous private message to you to be public, please paste it on the forum. I will look for a response there. From the research I have done (just a little), it appears that the Phenom II x4 940 should be available in the US around January 8th which is fine. Ive decided to wait until I get back from DC (inauguration) and a quick side trip to the rotten apple for a few days of plays and concerts. Then it all gets ordered for my new build!

Ive been reading about the upcoming Phenom II x940 I am interested in building with this chip instead of with the Core i7 965. Any idea when it will be available to purchase? What mobo would you suggest as the best to go with this chip? Since it is an AM2+ chip, would the Mushkin DDR2 1066 2GB x 2 be the best bet? Id still like to use a 4870x2 graphics card with this setup. Already have a new Antec 900 case, and a new Antec 1000 watt PS. I cant do the SAS - 15K disks (without an expensive controller card) so probably go with a pair of velcoraptors (along with the pair of Seagate 750GB 16MB drives (new) that I have waiting for the build.
Russ, any help you can give on this will be greatly appreciated. Im sure the build will be VERY fast and Id kind of like to see AMD around for a good long time.

Still trying to get the drivers in. Lots of questions, is there a thread that walks you through a new install? Took me a whole day just to get the wrong modem to work. Got me online though, and now have to get a new DVD RW when I get to town. Living in the country does have it drawbacks...
