Woohoo ! #1 Top Metal of the week at MP3lizard.com ! Thanks so much for all the downloads and positive votes !
This is a Dean Exotica - wow what a great guitar ! The back and sides have the same TransRed flame maple as the top - it's gorgeous all over ! It also has a piezo pickup and a nice preamp / EQ for plugging in . Of course it plays as good as it looks ! I played another Exotica in TransBlue which also looks really good . Dean makes excellent acoustic guitars - the Exotica is a killer guitar and a great deal !

  • dsstrlght (13 Apr 2006 19:19)

Wow now that's taking "red letter day" to the max! It's so great to see you at #1 because that's what you are.

  • brainstrm (13 Apr 2006 20:30)

Very Nice ! Tigereye is a cool finish ! Dean Acoustic Guitars Page

  • brainstrm (13 Apr 2006 21:25)

I love this one ! The V-coustic [ link ] looks like a lot of fun ! I have always liked small-bodied acoustics like the Ferrington and BC Rich . They are the size and shape of solidbody electric guitars , with Tele , Strat , and even Warlock bodies . This is way more cool - I am a big V fanatic so of course I've always wanted a V acoustic . I can't wait to try it - the V-coustic looks like the real deal !
I hope they will also be making the Z-coustic and ML-coustic - I'll be all over that ! ( I'll definitely be putting in a request for them ! Tomorrow ! )

  • dsstrlght (13 Apr 2006 21:51)

    lots of cool finishes

  • dsstrlght (13 Apr 2006 21:55)

You know me, dark blue, black and water. That Midnight blue finish is calling my name. Why do keyboards have to be so boring looking . You guitar players have all the fun!

  • dsstrlght (13 Apr 2006 22:01)

    now that's pretty.

  • brainstrm (13 Apr 2006 22:54)

wow ! The Hardtail is always cool but I especially like that color with the quilt maple 8 )

  • emossuck (14 Apr 2006 21:43)

    8)

  • dsstrlght (15 Apr 2006 8:16)

By the way I agree, it's about time they made a acoustic guitar that looked cool!

  • dsstrlght (15 Apr 2006 8:17)

aaaarghhhh!!! an acoustic guitar, an acoustic guitar, an acoustic guitar, an acoustic guitar, an acoustic guitar, That's what I get for trying to type while my fingernail polish is drying!!!

  • dsstrlght (15 Apr 2006 8:23)

hmmm....... can I at least get that Midnight blue finish on my nails?

  • brainstrm (18 Apr 2006 17:01)

hehehe maybe - I have some nice blue metallic 8 ) We could probably do some sort of black undercoat , then the blue etc . 8 )

And yes - acoustic guitars can be made any shape , just like electrics , especially if the plugged-in sound is more the goal than true acoustic tone . A piezo bridge pickup can sound pretty much the same whether the guitar is a traditional shape , a fun shape , or some odd polygon . The original handbuilt custom Ferrington acoustics were made in cool shapes like this Firebird-ish Scorpions guitar , and B.C. Rich makes Warlocks and Mockingbirds like the one below .
I'm not really into acoustic guitars ( wow - there's a news flash for ya! ) so I only play them in a have-to situation when a song requires it . I do have some nice Yamahas , an FG360 6-string and FG260 12-string , and an old "F-word" Newporter for those occasions . I use the Ernie Ball "Rock and Blues" string set for the 6-strings , which is a lighter than normal bronzewound set with an unwound G . The "Rock and Blues" set is more bendable / playable and makes acoustic playing much more fun , but even so still sends me running for my electrics with low action and SIT .008 strings [ link ] I'd play acoustic more if it felt as comfy as my electrics , so I'm really excited about the Dean V-coustic - it is obviously geared toward the electric player !

it's sort of right but an airbrush and an accomplice would help

  • emossuck (21 Apr 2006 9:27)

  • dsstrlght (21 Apr 2006 13:05)

that's not photoshop. I really did my nails that way.

  • dsstrlght (21 Apr 2006 13:30)

    I'll even break out some of my 80's wear and get the hairspray / bed-head going on 8 ) 8 ) 8 )

  • dsstrlght (21 Apr 2006 22:35)

Yes that would be all the fun, love your sense of adventure. Hahahaha the 100000 braids and the resultant big fluffy hair were fun .

  • dsstrlght (21 Apr 2006 22:36)

you can even borrow my spiked wristband

  • brainstrm (21 Apr 2006 22:39)

    8 ) 8 ) 8 )

  • charlie8j (22 Apr 2006 8:24)

    100000 braids ?????

  • brainstrm (22 Apr 2006 15:08)

OK it was really more like 20 braids - I don't have That Much hair 8 (

  • dsstrlght (22 Apr 2006 16:05)

yes you saw them, it was at your place.

  • charlie8j (23 Apr 2006 13:28)

are you talking about the string winder thingie ??

  • dsstrlght (24 Apr 2006 3:13)

Lol no, although that's fun too. The night before I left last year, we did his hair in the living room and he went in laughing and showed you, then slept with the braids still in, had breakfast with you before work with the braids still in his hair, then we undid them before going to the airport.

  • dsstrlght (24 Apr 2006 3:14)

And you dont' have that little hair, we got a lot of braids out of it. :)

  • charlie8j (25 Apr 2006 9:38)

i am actually having trouble remembering that...but i was completely out of it asleep the nite before, and not being a morning person at all, i am usually in a complete daze until i have been at work for a couple of hours...sorry !!! should have taken pictures i guess.... i have braided his hair before, and it is very painful to braid hair as thin as his is. you end up with tiny little braids sticking out every which way...(if you can get them tight enough) hahahahaha.....

  • dsstrlght (25 Apr 2006 14:45)

Yeah I guess I should have taken pictures lol. I don't know about thin, it's more a matter of silky fine that wants to slip right out of your hands, you have to hold on very well, but it was worth the effort just for the fun of seeing it that way. giggle. Hmmm maybe da teenager would be willing to part with some hair dye next time. I believe this one is Fuschia Shock . I do know the kids all swear by Manic Panic [ link ] it definitely does the best job and stays brightest the longest. Some of their hair colors even glow in black light [ link ] how cool is that for onstage fun? All the fun!

  • brainstrm (25 Apr 2006 16:48)

    Good hair day !!! >:D<
I'm really bored with my hair - I think it would be fun to do something drastic with it ( I don't know about the pink - it looks good on The Liz but it would clash with my camoflage )
Maybe I'll hop on the bandwagon and shave it ( aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha NOT!!!)

  • dsstrlght (25 Apr 2006 18:13)

Aaaaaagh no no no don't shave it!!! Something fun but reversible. Part of the fun of Manic Panic is the regular kind is only semi permanent; da kidz are changing colors every few weeks, in the last few weeks since Christmas she's had her brown hair, overdyed it with the fuschia, dyed it all black, then bleached the back and dyed it blue, then had the back just bleached blonde, then made the blonde part fuschia. I think that was the order. lol.

  • dsstrlght (25 Apr 2006 18:14)

and Cat does hers a lot more often.

  • Lethal_B (11 May 2006 16:54)

  • dsstrlght (10 Jun 2006 20:25)

ok the official count this time was 24 braids. Yes you do have that much hair.

  • dsstrlght (27 Jul 2006 19:59)

Wondering what the downoad numbers are up to now. Must be Really good. It's been awhile.

  • brainstrm (13 Nov 2006 12:12)

    8 ) 8 ) 8 )

  • dsstrlght (11 Jan 2007 18:20)

  • brainstrm (28 Feb 2007 6:09)
