Yes ! I want one myself - the red V is one of my favorites ! I played it on all my earlier recordings in the 80s and most of the Project : Brainstorm sessions and shows . That one is always my first choice when it's time for a serious gig or recording !

you know, I'm trying to figure out why since you have lots of pictures here with a score of 5 and 4 votes for them, they aren't bumping my picture off the image of the day. They are tied with the same number of votes and same total score.. you'd think we'd be getting more guitars up there. I miss the guitar pictures being up on image of the day.

the problem at the moment seems to be we're tied at 4 with a lot. Why it doesn't cycle through the tied ones I don't know. Someone else out there must love cool guitars enough to vote too.

I think there are way more visitors than votes & comments . ( I hand out cards at gigs with my website addy ! ) My downloads are way up since starting the blog page here - over 4200 now !
Most likely it's a matter of visitors not wanting to have to register to comment or vote . That part is sort of necessary so people dont vote over and over , and also to help weed out anonymous users posting offensive things .
If you are a visitor , registering is free & easy . This site doesn't send spam , only an info newsletter and you do have the choice of opting out of that even . Registering is cool - you can vote on the pictures and make comments but the fun doesn't stop there ! An AfterDawn membership also gives you a free blog page like this one and a page at MP3lizard.com to post original music as well as entry to all the AfterDawn sites and forums of computer help etc .
The blog page is very easy to use ! If anyone has questions on how-to I'd be glad to help or direct you to someone who can . If you'd like to register with AfterDawn.com , this [ link ] will get you started !

yow ! Definite woody ! Yes - that's the "madman" - it's a Dean Hardtail USA set-neck mahogany satin finish chainsaw ! One of the most aggressive sounding guitars I've ever played . I'm sure it has polite sounds too but I didn't look for them 8 )

Yes it is - the finish is really nice - it feels more like just plain wood than a slick painted feel . The sound though - wow ! I usually don't like Seymour Duncan pickups but the ones in the Hardtail absolutely rip ! To me most Duncans usually sound muddy but these in the Hardtail are fierce ! Very lively , good clarity , barks like a dog ! Gotta love it !

Vintage Guitar magazine says a Seymour Duncan JB bridge & Duncan �59 neck pickup - the ones on that particular model are satin finish not chrome and look really good with the other matte finish hardware ! I guess now I have to get out the ol checkerboard and compare the 80s JB to one of these ! Here is another one in gloss BraziliaBurst and shiny chrome

That's the set that I have in the Necromancer (JB/'59), and I have a JB in the Kelly as well. Although now that I've had the Dimarzio Evolutions in the Jem, I think that has become my favorite pickup.
I can see why Vai likes 'em so much, they are rediculously expressive.

This guitar features an elaborate, abalone rose inlay displaying the Warner Brothers� logo in the head stock. The vine inlay in the finger board is comprised of more than 120 pieces of abalone and mother-of-pearl, featuring Bugs Bunny in the fifth fret. The top of the instrument has a hand-painted pattern replicating tooled leather, with more Warner Brothers� cartoon characters hidden throughout the design.

Me either - I sight by the dot markers and having them off-center really throws me off . If you notice most of my guitars have plain centered dots ! Thanks for the comment Brainstorm it sure as hell is something iam going to remember....i thought you only modified them..but it turns out you build them..I want to get started..but iam having faincial problems..

When i come across money for atleast a router and a belt sander...iam going to buy all the other tools like a Hand Saw and Clamps and stuff. but i already have a Power Drill. So yea..but i dont know exactly how to get started. I have a book but i wouldnt know the Easiest 1st route to take...

That's what I was thinking after the "Master of Puppets pop-quiz" - I was having a blast playing along with that stuff and didnt even realize how long I had been at it ! Afterward it was all "ouch ! serious workout ! " ( It really does give you some major adrenaline and momentum - I do wish I could be that way 24-7 ! )

PS Thanks Liz for the Digitech RP80 ! That is a very cool tool - it's got a lot of good sounds and is quite the inspirational practice rig ! I'm enjoying it a lot !

I was about that age when I figured it out - I played acoustic guitars for several years before discovering light strings , distortion , etc , all the things that make playing easier . By then I had serious hand strength so I was able to rip on electrics and get really physical with it head to toe !

Wow ! Saturday was a Very Long day - we played at the Trail of Tears festival and had to be there in the early morning to beat the motorcycle traffic ! They were expecting 200,000 bikers , most showing up in a big group around noon . I walked downtown to find the Hawaiian Tropic girls and caught the first big herd riding in - there were a ton of people there for the weekend !

I hit the music stores on Sunset this afternoon with flyers for you. I wish we could have had the video camera here months ago when you came. We'd have had it up at the beginning of the contest. Considering I drove almost 300 miles round trip for a job interview, worked, campaigned for Obama, voted in the presidential election, took a five hour career-critical exam and did a few other things the last few days I think I've managed to put in a very decent effort for you. : ) You're so worth it and don't ever let anyone make you feel you're not.

AWwwwww sometimes things are just soo sweet! I was catching up on one of our mutual friend's blogs (you'll know who this is) tonight, missing your voice and thinking about you when I read something she wrote back in November that she hadn't even told me she had done.

First of all, do me a favor. Go here, and vote 11 for JJ. He�s got way more talent than this 1 minute clip shows and he deserves every prize that Dean Guitars wants to throw at him. He�s a sweet guy too. One year at the holidays a few years ago, I was bumming about my divorce and he kept me giggling for the entire evening. The name Colbert beat out NASA's four suggested options in the space agency's effort to have the public help name the addition. The new room will be launched later this year.

NASA's mistake was allowing write-ins. Colbert urged viewers of his Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report to write in his name. And they complied, with 230,539 votes. That clobbered Serenity, one of the NASA choices, by more than 40,000 votes. Nearly 1.2 million votes were cast by the time the contest ended Friday.

NASA reserves the right to choose an appropriate name. Agency spokesman John Yembrick said NASA will decide in April, but will give top vote-getters the most consideration.

It was 99 degrees here today. Still trying to reach you. I spent all weekend posting your 20,000 downloads poster on Myspace. I estimate I hit probably about 2500 pages in all. Don't be surprised if you have a boost in downloads in the next few days and friend requests. That generally happens whenever I do a big PR job for you. You have congratulatory comments from Dean guitars and from Tony Purnell, among others. Not everyone allows html, or I would have hit everyone on my list. I have an updated graphic I made for you, since it's time to change the 10,000 downloads graphic already. I think something's wrong with your email so I won't send it there until I hear directly from you, since you're not getting my emails. You must be having trouble accessing them because they're labeled unread. OR you can copy the file from here if your email is too screwed up. I know I had trouble when I was hit by that trojan. I tried to warn you for days not to open emails from me lest your computer get infected too but everything has been fine for two weeks now. It's all fixed. If you're still not opening the emails because I had told you not to, then you've missed my message that it is all fixed and safe now.

Wow I just tried out the new -See your stats on your pictures- tool on Photobucket. Your 20,000 downloads poster has 3,421 views. I knew I worked hard on your publicity but this is so cool to be able to have specific numbers. You're so worth every one of the hours I have put in on all of this all these years. I'm also pretty sure since I uploaded multiple copies of this file because I put it on so many Myspace pages, that this is just the stats on the file that had the most views. Since it's all computerized they wouldn't have any way of being able to group the data for all my copies of this file. I'd have to upgrade to pro to see all my stats. This just gives me the stats on a few of my most viewed files of the last few days right now. Edit ok yes I confirmed it. I uploaded and posted four copies of this poster so I wouldn't get a bandwidth exceeded message on it and these are the stats on just the most viewed copy of that file.

Note: 5-28 672 more views just in the last three days since I wrote that

Our girl graduated from high school today. Posed for the picture with her teacher in a cap and gown and everything. We're working on getting a copy so you can see it. The big official school ceremony will be in June but please call her. I know she wants to share her news herself with you and we can't get through. She is so proud and you've been so important in helping her get to this point. huge hugs. I wish you could have heard her voice when she called right after. Thank you for having been there for her at some very critical times. You're wonderful. I will forever be touched and grateful to you for having been so good at this. I can't wait till this beautiful crazy family is together again and celebrating her graduation.

Griffith Observatory honored for having one of world's greatest ceilings [ link ]

The Griffith Observatory is already one of L.A.'s great landmarks. But now, it's getting recognition -- for its ornate ceiling. Virtualtourist.com named the observatory's Central Rotunda as one of the World's Top 10 Greatest Ceilings. Designed by Hollywood art director turned muralist Hugo Ballin, the subtle, circular painting depicts the signs of the zodiac and other celestial beings, the travel site said. An interesting side note: Ballin was a sketch artist on the film 'The Wizard of Oz,' which might explain the ceiling�s whimsical look.

You're a first grade rockstar. :) We're doing a unit on the past and making a bulletin board with pictures and interviews. Since this is first grade, we're heavily focusing on pictures that show family and show both how the past was the same and how it was different. So you're up there too.

Big day today. Marie's baby in the morning and tonight I shook hands with everyone from Chickenfoot. We have us an autographed cd signed by Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, Mark Anthony and Chad Smith. The Project Brainstorm publicity machine spread the Project Brainstorm message to a nice big crowd of fans, KLOS and whoever those people with the tv cameras were. The new DMT pickups from Dean are also out now ! I talked with Dean Magnetic Technology's designer Pat Baker recently , a cool guy who really knows his stuff on getting a wide variety of tones from his pickups. He is also a totally shredding guitar player! (video links below)
I have played the DimeTime , Lights Out and Time Capsule , all sound very good and of course each has its own distinctive voice . I'm also looking forward to trying the SVCH single-coils , which are probably similar to the ones modeled from the pickups in Tommy Bolin's vintage guitar for the Dean Teaser. (More on that later!)
The USA ML with Time Capsules straight into a Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier = grind-o-matic! Good definition & sustain , and even playing loud enough to feel my shirt move - no microphonic feedback squealing !
