PROJECT : BRAINSTORM MySpace Page

16 Aug 2006 21:45 (Edited: 16 Aug 2006 21:45)

Click here to visit the PROJECT : BRAINSTORM page at MySpace!

( If you must . The main Project : Brainstorm content is at Afterdawn ! My Myspace exists purely to direct people to this site ! [ link ] . )
Project : Brainstorm does NOT recommend the use of Myspace , due to their overuse of the phrase :

"Sorry! an unexpected error has occurred.

This error has been forwarded to MySpace's technical group."

Good luck , and remember to hit the "back" button to return to this page after receiving your own personal copy (or copies) of the error message above !

However , these links from Afterdawn work nicely :

Click here for the Project : Brainstorm Afterdawn mainpage !
Project : Brainstorm Photos Page
Project : Brainstorm Free Music and Lyrics
Guitar Building and Modification Help

PS - At the time of this writing , a Google search of "myspace" "error message" shows 261,000 results , myspace "error message" yields 287,000 , and myspace error message (with no quotation marks) gives 2,310,000 ! That's Two Million , Three-Hundred-and-Ten Thousand ! ( It's some good comedy reading ! I needed that after seeing that error message literally 100+ times - in the first week ! Glad it's not just me ! )

Editor's note - as with all Project : Brainstorm content , the opinions expressed above are solely the author's , and are not intended to reflect the opinions of Afterdawn staff and management !

no kidding! Every time I go on myspace I have that message over and over and over again. Once in awhile I actually get through.. Makes you appreciate how good Afterdawn is. And the graphics here don't make my head ache. No, it is definitely not just you.

da teenager says it's cuz we are trying to go on during prime teenager times, the middle of the night. I say well, if the site knows every teenager on the planet is on at midnight then they'd better have the resources to handle that.

I read an interesting article regarding the server traffic problems with myspace , chalking up most of the technical difficulties to existing software / server architechture and "growing pains." Myspace has an unprecedented number of users logging on at once , much like the early days of AOL (cringe) when AOL didn't have the dial-in and server capacity to accept the number of members trying to access .
Another factor they mentioned - not only is a project of this magnitude expensive in terms of hardware , but almost impossible to test for bugs in an offline experimental manner . They basically have no choice but to launch the system online , letting their users be the "beta testers" , which is basically the case now .

link ] In MySpace's case, they were adding ColdFusion servers so quickly that they reached the ultimate limits of their data layer in terms of concurrent connections. So, as they added more ColdFusion servers they actually had to lower the number of connections available in the pool for every single one of their ColdFusion servers. Eventually, this begins to detriment performance of the application."

link ]" MySpace is a social networking website based in West Hollywood, California offering an interactive network of blogs, user profiles, groups, photos, MP3s, videos and an internal e-mail system. According to Alexa Internet, as of July 2006 it is the world's fourth most popular English-language website and the sixth most popular in any language. MySpace has 300 employees, is owned by Newscorp, and does not disclose revenues or profits. MySpace currently reports just over 95 million members, with 500,000 new members each week. "
    ( 300 employees + 95 million members ? Yow ! )

I don't know, Afterdawn is free too but they rule! Seems to me they've handled it a whole lot better.
