ELLIOTT RUBINSON, the owner of Dean Guitars and Ddrum, has been invited to play bass guitar for the Michael Schenker Group for the following dates:

Thu 07/16/09 Exeter, CA Orange Blossom Junction

Fri 07/17/09 Phoenix, AZ Celebrity Theatre
    (w/ Dokken)

Sat 07/18/09 Ventura, CA Majestic Ventura Theatre

No doubt about it, this is a really cool thing. There are not many guys out there that have the chops to run one of the most dynamic companies in the business and to be jamming on stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

If you are in the area, please get out to enjoy these shows and show Elliott and Schenker some support!

The new DMT pickups from Dean are also out now ! I talked with Dean Magnetic Technology's designer Pat Baker recently , a cool guy who really knows his stuff on getting a wide variety of tones from his pickups. He is also a totally shredding guitar player! (video links below)
I have played the DimeTime , Lights Out and Time Capsule , all sound very good and of course each has its own distinctive voice . I'm also looking forward to trying the SVCH single-coils , which are probably similar to the ones modeled from the pickups in Tommy Bolin's vintage guitar for the Dean Teaser. (More on that later!)
The USA ML with Time Capsules straight into a Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier = grind-o-matic! Good definition & sustain , and even playing loud enough to feel my shirt move - no microphonic feedback squealing !
Good stuff - Project:Brainstorm Seal of Approval !

Here is a video of Pat Baker talking about the DMT line:

Dimebag Darrell - DimeTime (Neck Position)
Dean Guitars spent countless hours with Dime’s original Deans used to record Cowboys From Hell and with Grady Champion, Dime's long-time guitar tech, to analyze the master’s tones. The result is the DIMETIME neck pickup - a pickup that will change YOUR sound forever!

Leslie West - Mountain of Tone
Hailing from New York, Leslie West made his mark around the world with his band Mountain back in the early seventies with his indescribable tone heard by more than a million people at Woodstock. For the first time ever the sound used to record the timeless classic Mississippi Queen has been captured in the Leslie West Mountain of Tone pickup.

Michael Angelo Batio - Hands Without Shadows
There is a reason that Michael Angelo was nicknamed Hands Without Shadows® in China and named the number one Shredder of all times - the man plays extremely fast. With this speed, Michael knows that clarity and attack are extremely important and he relys on his neck pickup for many of his beautiful round tones. Michael Angelo Batio is touring the world with the HWS pickups in his double guitar and relies on these pickups to produce those buttery tones when he is not busy melting his pick with his full out shred. Try out the Batio HWS humbucking in your axe today.

    Vinnie Moore Signature
Shrapnel Records recognized the talent of this young shredder back in the 80’s making Vinnie Moore a name every serious guitarist respected. Now twenty plus years since Mind’s Eye was recorded, Vinman has designed his first humbucking pickup. If you have not heard the biting tone of the Dean Vinnie Moore Signature try out the new Dean Vinman 2000 signature guitar and hear what it will do for your chops. Catch Vinnie on tour with UFO around the world.

    Michael Schenker - Lights Out
Michael Schenker is the guitarists’ guitarist providing the crushing leads for bands like UFO, Scorpions, MSG and his own solo projects. His guitar tone is simply legendary and is instantly recognizable remaining consistent throughout the years. Michael’s tone can now be captured with his Lights Out neck or bridge pickup available in his famous black and white bobbin design as featured on his signature Dean V or in other color configurations. Give the Lights Out humbucking a run in the 2008 Michael Schenker Custom and USA Schenker V.

    Pat Baker - Baker Act
Pat Baker is the driving force behind the Dean USA pickup line. Besides being an 11 year veteran here at Dean Guitars, Pat has one of the most astonishing set of ears we have ever come across. He is able to hear very minor subtleties between pickups which has enabled him to design this groundbreaking line of pickups. As a player Pat Baker is perhaps the finest shred/rock player you will hear. His signature pickup The Baker Act has the output, guts and grit that players of his stature are entitled to.

    Nostalgia
The Nostalgia pickup is a vintage style humbucking pickup great for classic rock and blues. The moderate output of the Nostalgia makes it a favorite for those guitarists seeking classic tones with balanced tonal response.

    Flathead
You can spot a Flathead pickup in a flash by it’s double adjustable coils. In comparison to the Nostalgia series this pickup has a warmer sound and utilizes an alnico 2 magnet like the original PAF pickups of the 50’s. Available both in neck and bridge models with a slightly higher output in the bridge position.

    Time Capsule
The Time Capsule series of pickups is what Dean currently uses in their original TC series guitars. These pickups capture the biting tones of the vintage Dean instuments produced from 1977 to 1986 with very strong lows and mids creating the tone that was used to record multiple platinum albums during this era.

    Equalizer
Strong output with singing harmonics. Even with it's high output, it retains good high end. This is a very versatile pick-up that works well in many styles of music.

    Revelation 7
The REVELATION 7 pickup has a hot output while retaining low-end clarity, which is important so that the low B string doesn't sound muddy. The tonality of this pickup is very close to Dean's TIME CAPSULE - perfect for players who want that vintage, shredding Dean tone in their 7-String.

    SCVH & SCVH RW
The SCVH is for players looking for that vintage single coil tone but with a little more punch. It is slightly hotter than vintage single coils but still retains clarity. The SCVH utilizes staggered Alnico 5 rod magnets with cloth vintage style cable and fiber board bobbins.
Comes in standard wound (SCVH) for bridge and neck position and reverse wound & reverse polarity (SCVH RW) for middle position.
