Unlocked door + alarm = running time!

06 Sep 2008 19:37 (Edited: 06 Sep 2008 19:37)

Ok it isn't as bad as it sounds. I took Michelle to the house my parents are looking very seriously at buying and had a peek through the windows as the builder wasn't there. After looking through the front door, which was locked, and windows I told her "let's go look through the back doors as you can see most of the main level through them."

Well, her and I were peeking through the back doors and my elbow hit the handle on the way down, the door just happened to be unlocked. It has never been unlocked in the ~5 times I have gone over there so I was a bit confused and left the door alone. Well, I could hear a slight beeping (turns out it was the alarm telling me "Disarm me or I am gonna go off!") for ~20 seconds, then it went silent.

I pulled the door shut upon hearing the beeping thinking "Maybe the alarm is set to go off if the door is left open and you don't disarm it." I figured shutting the door wouldn't disarm the alarm but it would keep it from going off as long as I didn't open the door again.

Turns out it wasn't that way because about 20-25 seconds after the alarm stopped beeping it went off, nice and loud due to having almost no carpet or furniture in the house. So, Michelle and I took off in a semi-run as to not look suspicious and went to her house.

However, upon arriving back home a sense of irony came about. Turns out around the same time her and I left the new house my parents had left the house I am living in now to go over and look at the house again with Craig, the builder. So that made me (and Michelle when I told her) laugh pretty good. I told my friends the story via text and they all got a good kick out of it as well.

The end!

Peace
