what pisses me off...

(19 Jan 2007 8:31)

Okay, so I'm talking to some people at college, and somehow the subject of global warming came up. they got into a heated debate about it (was very intertaining), I just listend for awhile untill i suggested tht global warming could be solved ( atleast in part) by adding more nuclear power plants. And apparently there were some people that were very ignorant on this subject, one of them said somehting about how nuclear reactors are dangerous and what not. i was already in a bad mood from something else, and when someone says that, it infuriates me to no end. so i pretty much unload on them. Saying that I could get more radiation from a room full of people thatn standing in front or UMR's swimming pool reactor, or from the sun, an x-ray, etc. I tell them that their own damn bodies have more radiation in them already then thay could get from standing in front of the containment building at Calloway. then they said that the cooling towers of a reactor gave off radiation, which i promptly said that the coolant loop of a reactor is completely isolated from the hot loop, so that is utter bullshit. Then, after that we had come to it, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, about how they are a prime example of how dangerous reactors are. to which i not so kindly responded to by saying that one was a complete accident/human error (go figure) where very little radiation was released, and the other one happened because the Russians were stupid and didnt put a containment vessel around the reactor. Thankfully they didnt bring up proliferation, because i wasnt about to explain it to those idiots.

So needless to say they weren't going to bring up that subject in from tof me again. And to be honest, I felt much better after that little rant to the idiots.
