go to the tread page when you helped someone with codec problems i need help to! look i downloaded DivX but everytime a play a video an ad pops out then stops the whole video is there anyway to stop this? Plz help!!

downloading the codec didnt work.....any other idea? I need a blow by blow if you can.

I hope you can help. You seem pretty good at this. I have a laptop that was having glitches so to say.....thinkiing it was spyware or something was the answer I kept getting. Okay, so at the same time I had downloaded Nero and DVD Shrink. All was working fine with those softwares but the other issue still was happening. So I had a computer friend redo the system. Okay, so he did. The computer works great except now the Dvd drive/burner or whatever can read a data disc and an audio disc but doesnt recognize a dvd. It makes a sound like it is trying to read it but nothing. So I go through the troubleshooting and it says something about a dvd decoder? I cant seem to get one....I am confused I guess on what I need. I called Compaq and said it was a software issue but wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for assistance since I am about 2 months out of warranty. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but no luck....keeps saying that the hardware is functioning fine. Should I delete all of the dvd software like powerdvd, dvd shrink, nero, and such and then add the software back? Like I said, I didnt have a problem with the software for a few weeks and then it stopped working.....not even the software reads that there is a dvd disc in the drive?
