Apparently, I'm a Cyber-Terrorist.

After almost a year of doing odd jobs, I finally earned enough money to buy a PSP.

Two days ago, after calling multiple shops trying to find a Phat, I headed to a Gamestop in the Downtown area of Seattle. They had three, I asked what firmwares they were running and the clerk immediately recognized that I was trying to find one that could be hacked, and asked if that was why I needed that information. I just smiled and said yes, that it had become a hobby of mine to mod systems.

I had spent a few days before this reading up on what was needed to run homebrew on newer PSP firmwares, as I haven't messed with one in a couple of years. However, the guides I had read were very out of date and had been written before the Pandora's Battery stuff was released... I was looking to get a 2.71 firmware PSP and GTA:LCS. XP

Anyway, the clerk gives me this spiel on how they "Aren't permitted to sell consoles or hardware to those whom had the intention of using them in a way not intended by the manufacturer, which under US law is considered Cyber-Terrorism".

At first I figured he was messing around, I belly-laughed for at least thirty seconds. (Not an exaggeration)
However, he then told me that he was "Very serious" and said that he couldn't sell me anything from the store now that he knew I was going to do something naughty. I was then politely booted from the store.

That night I spent looking up console modding legalities, of course, there was nothing I could find that classified it as "Cyber-Terrorism", or even illegal as long as no mod-chips were being distributed by me. What's more, I don't appreciate being associated with These Folk for modifying software in a video console.

The day after I looked up more recent guides, went to another store and picked up a Phat PSP and ordered a Datel Battery TOOL, as I haven't the means to make one.
