I have read your mac rip, compress burn guide....I realize you haven't had a chance to update it, but was wondering what exactly do I need? Mac the ripper and toast 8? would that be it? do I even need toast 8 if I use DVD imager? If I do use DVD imager, will that and only mac the ripper work? thanx for your help!

Im sure this has been asked but what about burning with Toast and using a dual layer dvd. I have tried this but Toast won't recognize the dvd. I have tried multiple brands of dvd but all the results are the same. Toast only sees the dvd dl as a blank cd. thanks.

m using a 1.4 GhzPower PC G4, Mac the ripper, Toast 7 Titanium, LaCie dvd burner
    I have 2 hard drives:
The main one is 20gig and the 2nd is 80gig (which is where I am putting the temp file of the rip

Ripping the dvd is working great but when I bring it into Toast near the end of the session these messages come up:

there is not enough temporary disk space for compression, please delete unused files or select a different disk in the preferences

Your start-up disk is almost full-you need to make more space available on your start up disk by deleting files

An error has occured recompressing the video

What does this mean? What do I do to fix it?...etc...

What is the best way to convert my movies to Ipod format?

Please help and thank you so much!!!!!!!

Sorry, hadn't seen your excellent post on burning optical media with a Mac, posted (permanently) on AfterDawn. I moved my recent post on this to a reply on yours, but couldn't erase my original. No matter, my original will disappear. This is just an apology.

    Greetings...

Would greatly appreciate help with the following...

Recently downloaded a torrent that separated into 4 folders:
    CD1
    CD2
    Samples
    Subs

CD1 folder has an .avi file that seems to be part 1 of the movie
CD2 folder has an .avi file that seems to be part 2 of the movie

    Used VisualHub program to try to Stitch Videos Together option;
end result is a black screen with skipping audio.

    Any suggestions/solutions?

    Many thanks in advance!

    P.S.
    I'm using a PowerMac G4

    Mediaguru,

I just switched to a MAC after using a PC for years, and I have for the longest time been using free software on a PC to Rip/Shrink/Burn dvds. I read through your updated forum posting, and was curious if you could inform me where I can download these programs. I found a copy of MTR on Macupdate.com, but I still need to find a compressor (DVD2OneX is only a 30 day trial). Also, will software preinstalled on my mac be able to burn the dvd, or do you recommend something like Toast still (also, where can I go abouts finding it for free :) Also, what torrent sites do you recommend using for downloading stuff? Could you email me @ dman0624@gmail.com ?? Thanks, i appreciate any help you can provide.
