  • 7thsinger (15 Oct 2008 14:27)

Any lady that drinks stout beer and has a pic of Darth friggin' Vader deserves an add from 7th. :)

    How the heck are you?

EDIT: not to mention the Full Metal Jacket quote! ;)

  • 7thsinger (16 Oct 2008 23:01)

I'm a professional beer drinker. ;) I like my dark beers, but i like beer in general. I'm not a huge war movie fan so much as a good movie fan. Full Metal Jacket qualifies and is one of the top contenders.
My favorite movie would have to be The Boondock Saints.

buddy me back or i'll Jedi mind-choke you. :P

  • rtm27 (17 Oct 2008 12:00)

All right....another movie fan. Which part of Full Metal Jacket do you prefer, the training, the pre attack, or the aftermath?

  • 7thsinger (17 Oct 2008 13:37)

I could ramble about movies forever too. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is one, as is the Big Lebowski (you've got good taste). Rounders, Pulp Fiction, Mystery Sciene Theater 3000 the movie, Dr. Strangelove, Mallrats, this list could go on forever.

    I'm a nerd for movies.

@RTM27 the training is what made me laugh. The pre attack set the mood, and the aftermath blew our minds. That is what makes the movie work so well. It leads you.

  • rtm27 (17 Oct 2008 19:17)

I'm more closer to 1,000 movies now....I just can't stop buying. I have soo many favorites that I can watch over and over. I do have my seasons of only watching certain movies at certain times. Anniversary of D-day and Anniversary of Pearl Harbor attack - only WWII movies. 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day - pro military and pro US movies. Halloween - horror movies. Other than that, I love all kinds of movies.

A few of my favorites are The Mark Of Zorro from 1940 (love the sword action and storyline), The Warriors (my sisters took me to see it when I was a kid, just love the 70's style fights and action), The Usual Suspects ( great storytelling, and I could not guess the killer till the end), Full Letal Jacket (favorite to watch before I enlisted in the army, and have seen over 12 times since), Le Feme Nikita (good french action flick, redone as Point Of No Return[almost word for word, shot for shot, not as good as original], Hard Boiled (great John Woo flick, all action, great stunts)....there are sooo many, that I can't name them all!!

  • Lillith88 (17 Oct 2008 19:47)

Wow those are some classics bud! I haven't seen The Warriors in years, very kool! And of course Usual Suspects is one of the best movies ever. Right on! Keepin the faith on the holiday's, good looking out I love war pictures too. Some of my favorites are Das boot, Apocalypse Now (of course), The Thin Red Line, U571. I agree there are to many to name as far as favorites go!

  • iluvendo (17 Oct 2008 23:47)

hi Lillith, doing good, spent today removing impacted wisdom teeth !

  • ferguj1 (17 Oct 2008 23:54)

Nice to see you are quickly making friends here. You currently have three of the best (both in knowledge and helpfulness) already buddied. Keep up the good work. :)

  • ferguj1 (18 Oct 2008 0:14)

Sure hope they are all mine! J/K. :) Thanks for the compliments on the boys. Varnull made fun of me over the haircuts. Need to post some updated pics, especially for the youngest. Pretty dog BTW. Chocolate Lab?

  • ferguj1 (18 Oct 2008 8:19)

Glad to meet you as well. :D

  • rtm27 (19 Oct 2008 17:38)

I watched Atonement and a few episodes of the Band Of Brothers miniseries. The back and forth storytelling of Atonement had me confused for a bit, and had to watch it a second time before I finally understood it. It was a good film and Kiera Knightly is very nice to look at (tho she could gain a few pounds....or actually eat something!).

Band Of Brothers I love to watch over and over. Something about the revolving story lines and the great camera work and action makes it enjoyable.

Other than that, it was a semi-boring weekend here. Spent it at home, trying to backup a few movies, and getting some rest. Hate having to go to work early in the morning tomorrow.

Hope you have a great rest of your weekend!!

  • 7thsinger (21 Oct 2008 22:43)

Oh yeah, Session 9 is a great flick. She picked that Nick because of the movie.

I really just dig the rare gem type of movie. I've got movies in my collection that most have never heard of, and those rare finds are some of my favorite ones.

  • 7thsinger (30 Oct 2008 14:55)

Have you seen 'The Strangers' yet? Not bad, but certainly not great. Just watched it finally.

Rumor has it they're working on Boondock Saints II. Now i'm excited.

  • rtm27 (31 Oct 2008 11:47)

    Happy Halloween!!

Tonight for me is horror movie night!!

  • rtm27 (09 Nov 2008 14:26)

I ended up watching Doomsday and Zombie Strippers (yes, there is a movie with that title, and it was low budget and campy!!) at work with my Sgt. Luckily for us it was a very boring night at work. I ended up working most of halloween. No fun for me.

    How have you been?

  • ferguj1 (09 Nov 2008 14:26)

Things are not too bad on my end, how about you? You been doing alright?

  • iluvendo (09 Nov 2008 17:47)

Hi Lillith, haven't been around much in the last week and a half. I was in Boston for a week long dental implant symposium. just got back yesterday. Boy am I pooped :)

How ya doing ? Good I hope.

Keep in touch, and don't be a stranger

    endo

  • 7thsinger (10 Nov 2008 9:26)

Strangers was ok. I agree that there is a lack of truly good movies coming out lately. Doomsday wasn't bad.
That's ok, there's plenty killer flicks in my collection i don't mind seeing again!
How's everything else going in your world?

  • rtm27 (15 Nov 2008 17:20)

I saw Deception a few weeks ago. I had bought it when it came out, and just finally watched it. It wasn't too bad, tho a few plot points were overlooked, like how did Ewan McGregor's character get a fake passport and how did he exit the building without being seen. Still was a good movie, tho.

I watched Untraceable and Michael Clayton a few days ago. I liked both of them. Diane Lane may be older, but she is still hot as hell!! It was well done. Michael Clayton had a few parts I didn't like, but was still an ok movie.

I'm off this weekend, so I hope to catch a flick or 2 from my dvd collection......well, thats the plan at least!!

  • ferguj1 (17 Nov 2008 19:58)

    Thanks for the congrats :)

  • ferguj1 (27 Nov 2008 22:39)

Almost too late, but Happy Thanksgiving :)

  • 7thsinger (28 Nov 2008 14:28)

A wee bit late, but happy thanksgiving to ya.

One of my traditions for Thanksgiving dinner is some Woodchuck Cider, a nicely flavored beer. If you haven't tried it, i recommend.

  • iluvendo (01 Dec 2008 22:54)

This is the UCLA Medical Center. We are informing you that your friend endo, is in a turkey/prime rib/crab bisque/fried shrimp/bbq'd korean beef rib/stuffing/mashed potatos - gravy/pumkin pie/cognac induced coma. This occured on Thanksgiving afternoon. We believe he will recover and awaken shortly before Christmas, where he will do it all over again.

  • 7thsinger (05 Dec 2008 8:46)

    Where's Lillith?

  • iluvendo (08 Dec 2008 19:15)

    Kidnapped by space aliens ?

  • ferguj1 (12 Dec 2008 23:11)

Lillith where are you? I hope that the aliens were gentle with the probing :)

  • iluvendo (21 Dec 2008 0:00)

    Merry Christmas Lillith

    Endo

  • 7thsinger (22 Dec 2008 17:16)

Lillith...where the fart are you? :) Hope all is well for you.

Merry Christmas to you...have a beer for me, i'll have one for you!

  • ferguj1 (11 Jan 2009 13:34)

Glad to see your return :) I will have to notify the FBI that you are no longer MIA.

  • iluvendo (11 Jan 2009 19:43)

Hi Lillith, I see you have returned from your abduction by the space aliens (j/k)

Hope holidays were good to you !

    endo

  • 7thsinger (13 Jan 2009 9:49)

The holidays were pretty good on my end, thanks for asking.

I drink a lot of Woodchuck Cider (green) around the holidays. It's tasty and festive. Also had more than a couple Blue Moon's. Hehe.

Hope work slows down so you can appreciate life a little and hang out with your aD buddies!

  • 7thsinger (08 Mar 2009 13:43)

Hey hey Lillith! Nice to see you checkin' in on us once in a while! ;) Yeah, i've seen some pretty decent flicks as of late. Gran Torino was great, Taken kicked some ass. And i'll have to check out Coraline.

Don't know exactly where you hail from, but if you have a Rock Bottom restaurant and Brewery around, you should check in out. So far, i've been to both in Chicago, and one in Cleveland. The food is great and the beer is incredible. I just went again over the weekend and took home a nice big bottle of their FireChief Red, which is a nice Red Lager not unlike Killians. Pretty good beer and makes a great marinade for steaks too!

    Stop by more often!

  • iluvendo (07 Apr 2009 21:00)

    Hi Lillith !
Jo has me on a mostly veggie diet :(
    I want some meat !

    Endo

  • rtm27 (11 Apr 2009 20:20)

Hey Lillith!! I have a small smile on my face....more so when I don't have to work and can watch some movies!!

I have to work in the morning, but it's gonna be soo boring at work, that I'm gonna try and watch at least a couple of movies to try and keep me awake.

So far, I've seen Taken (awsome, love it), The International (very good), Marley And Me (liked it), and Yes Man (was good, but could have been better) the past 2 weeks.

Well, hope to see you around some more!!

    Ray

  • ferguj1 (12 Apr 2009 21:39)

Hey Lillith, glad that you stopped by :) I too am ready for spring to finally be here in full force, tired of the greatly fluctuating temperatures. THe family has been keeping me busy as usual, but thats ok, eliminates the boredom. Don't be such a stranger.

    Ferg

  • 7thsinger (13 Apr 2009 11:27)

Well, if i had to guess, i'd say he was ban hammered from above due to the adult and explicit nature of some photos he placed on his profile page. xXx.
