That's nice and easy...thanx
so now is my battery a pandora battery???or do i have to have the MS in my PSP to be able to use a PSP with firmware 3.71 M33?

• by larrylje @ 15 Dec 2007 10:37

The guide part is just for the Magic Memory Stick. You will need to place that into the PSP along with either a Datel Tool Battery or a Hardmoded battery to install the 3.71 M33-2 custim firmware to your PSP.

• by kazzy9 @ 16 Dec 2007 21:57

Hi i hope you can help me i have a pandora stick and a slim psp running custom firmware and am trying to make a magic ms but every time i try on the last step it wont allow me to create the boot code as it says check free reserved sector: to small sectors then it quits the program. i am using a 1 gb produo and it was once a mms but i wiped it by accident (kids harrassing me and put wrong card in lol) is there something i am doing wrong? i have tried about 4 diffrent guides but every way i try it says the same thing

• by kazzy9 @ 17 Dec 2007 2:00

opps sorry i meant i have a pamdora battery

• by larrylje @ 17 Dec 2007 12:12

Try a diffrent memoery stick.

• by kazzy9 @ 18 Dec 2007 3:25

i have tried 3 diffrent memory sticks now all with the same result

• by dimuthuag @ 18 Dec 2007 8:53

I made the mms as this guide.and put it in to my PSP(slim) then put the pandora battery into psps.But there are nothing on the screen.I can see the power light is on.but.nothing on screen.plese tell me what to do.

• by dimuthuag @ 18 Dec 2007 8:55

Not "put the pandora battery into psps"
Just "put the pandora battery into PSP"

• by dimuthuag @ 18 Dec 2007 12:27

And there are nothing bout "Write MS BOOT CODE" in the making of mms.Is that the matter? I used 1GB memory ms.What shoud I do do?

• by larrylje @ 18 Dec 2007 12:45

If your running Vista the easy installer might not work for you.

So try re-doing the steps again.

• by dimuthuag @ 18 Dec 2007 13:57

It worked! It Worked.Thanx buddy.U were with me since I start this.Now it worked.Thanx buddy.

• by mexp143 @ 18 Dec 2007 23:05

can i do this with 3.72 official firmware

• by larrylje @ 19 Dec 2007 9:35

Any PSP FAT/SLIM with any firmware will work.

• by mexp143 @ 19 Dec 2007 18:59

i downloaded the rar file but when i tried to open it it said invalid or corrupt java file

• by mexp143 @ 19 Dec 2007 20:08

i was able to solve my last problem and found a guide on how to hardmod my psp by cutting the 5th, pin but will i be able to use my battery normally after i cut the pin.

• by tomatoton @ 20 Dec 2007 0:42

Ok, I followed the instructions to make the magic memory stick. I'm not sure if I did this right, because when I looked at the memory stick through my PSP, the first thing in the list said "Corrupted Data". Is this supposed to happen, or did I mess up?

• by purekaoz @ 20 Dec 2007 1:56

Does this universal unbricker bring it down to FW 1.50 or straight to 3.71M33?

• by purekaoz @ 20 Dec 2007 5:33

My "Check free reserved sector" thing at the end didnt say "OK". Does that mean it didnt work?

• by psp_naab @ 22 Dec 2007 14:37

Does this work with slim 3.73 OFW ..? (step 5.. installing 1.50?)

• by badqct9 @ 22 Dec 2007 15:41

cannot open logic drive what does that mean i am using a card reader not usb and i am using a 2gb

• by mexp143 @ 22 Dec 2007 17:39

If i the 5th pin on my psp will it work with the universal unbricker. PLEASE reply.

• by guchsk8er @ 23 Dec 2007 15:33

i removed the 5th pin on my psp battery and everything but when i click to download the totalnewbieasyinstaller it dosent come with a folder it downloads as a rar file what am i doing wrong?

• by larrylje @ 24 Dec 2007 11:27

For those asking what firmware will be installed to the PSP your question will be answered if you just read the GUIDE!

I also said I would not answer questions about hardmoding the battery. I have never done it myself so you will need to get help elsewhere.

To the users having issues with the files being written to Memory Stick try formating the Memory Stick and try it again. If your using Vista this could be the problem. Try finding a PC that has XP and create the Magic Memory Stick on that PC.

• by livitatto @ 27 Dec 2007 15:01

please help i get to the writing files to stick after choosing option 4 but after it gets to 100% instead of asking me to type Y it comes up with error code0x00000000 in DeviceIocontrol instead of (target drive is 1 etc)and press any key to continue if i do this it ends the installer help please

• by elvis24 @ 27 Dec 2007 17:58

Hello, great tutorial. I have one question before I start. If I follow the tutorial and have a datel battery, if I mess up in any way am I able to recover the psp.
It is a psp slim running version 3.71. Its a psp-2003pb. Sorry for the question am quite new to this.
Thanks

• by elvis24 @ 28 Dec 2007 4:33

sorry but to add to my question above. Does the memory card need to be a magic gate memory card or will a normal sony memory stick do. I have a 512mb and a 4gb. Do I need to download any other software from anywhere else to be able to play copied games. Again Im sure your sick of people like me and I thank you for your help.
Thanks elvis24

• by larrylje @ 28 Dec 2007 11:16

@elvis24

I would recommend using a supported Magicgate Memory stick. but all you can do id try using the Memory Sticks you have. If it doesn't work then you will need to get a legit Magicgate supported memory stick.

• by 5h4f @ 28 Dec 2007 15:03

hey, how would you do the nand backup of the psp?

• by larrylje @ 28 Dec 2007 17:57

You need to backup the NAND using this Universal Unbricker. Press Square to back up the NAND and keep it on a PC or some other type of media so you have it safe.

If you ever get an unrecoverable brick that Pandora + Magic Memory Stick can not recover from you can use your NAND dump to restore the PSP and possibly recover it.

Never use a NAND dump of someone else's PSP and you should only restore the NAND as a last resort.

• by badqct9 @ 29 Dec 2007 6:26

do you need the add on for the slim or not

• by pjpsp @ 29 Dec 2007 14:56

AWESOME!!!! And it runs on windows VISTA!!!!! I had a PSP Slim with Official 3.80 Installed. Followed these steps, step by step with a PC running Windows Vista... worked beautifully... Not 1 problem. Awesome, mad props to everyone involved!

• by jjaujou @ 30 Dec 2007 20:02

• by green222 @ 01 Jan 2008 10:54

i just got a 1gb magic gate and still the same problem im running 3.80 fw but a guy posted on this saying he was able to do 3.80 wtf ive been doing this for 5 hours pls help

• by pjpsp @ 01 Jan 2008 13:25

Yea, I had OFW 3.80 on a PSP SLIM. This is what I did step by step:

Opened my battery with a flat head screw driver....
Got a safety pin and broke off the bottom right pin.
(Now I have a Pandora Battery)
Here's a pic of a SLIM battery:
link ]
****break the bottom right pin****

Then use the program here step by step... Follow the steps on this site exactly!

THen when you're done, just put in the Magic Stick first! Then the Pandora Battery, the screen will be black on the Slims! Just push X.
You will see the MS light blink and the WiFi light blink also, give it about 1 minute, when the lights stop blinking, just take out the battery and either put in a new (non-pandora battery) or just plug in your PSP to the AC charger (with no battery) and turn on.
Violla, welcome to the HomeBrew Scene.

TIP:: For those not wanting to buy a new battery....
Start your PSP with the AC adapter and no Battery
Once the PSP is on... put in the Pandora Battery (do not power off system while you do it)
Unplug the AC adapter....

You can now use your pandora battery as a normal battery.

****If you power down (or sleep) your PSP you'll need to follow these steps again to use your pandora battery as a normal one.*****

There is also Boosters Multi Load IPL but I can't get it to install correctly with Windows Vista.

• by larrylje @ 02 Jan 2008 13:57

For those asking what size and what type of Memory Stick to use. I can only suggest using a 512 to 1GB Official PSP memory Stick "MAGICGATE" supported.

This does not mean no other size or type of memory Stick will work. All you can do is try using it and if it works great if it doesn't then get a different Memory Stick.

@elvis24

This is a Universal Unbricker. If you happen to screw up in the directions then the Unbricker just won't work. So follow the guide properly and you will be fine.

@ragskull

Do you think I would of added the Pandora Battery Hardmod or Datel Tool part of the guide if those steps wasn't necessary?

@kewljohn

It clearly says "This guide is intended for use with Official Firmware FAT/SLIM PSP's." in the guide. So answer your own question.

@green222

Try using a different Memory Stick and make sure your using windows XP. Vista can have issues.

Hi All, Great Guide
Just a quick question- What is the in the update folder

• by littlelen @ 03 Jan 2008 16:00

Hi!

Just Read your PSP guide (Bat+mem)
Just one question, How about:

-| Boot PSP into recovery mode by pressing the R button at startup |-
-| Go into Advanced in recovery mode |-
-| Format flash1 and restore settings |-

Is these steps neccary?

Thx for the awsome guide!

• by Abyss1000 @ 04 Jan 2008 5:02

Hi to all,
Did your guide for the MS Stick and all is fine there. Just bought a DATEL TOOL
battery like in the picture. 3.6v 1800mAh. I have a slim and it seems like this
battery is ment for the FAT PSP !!! I can't get the PSP to power up. Has anyone done a slim with that same BATTERY?

Thanks, ABYSS1000

• by littlelen @ 04 Jan 2008 8:35

PSP slim and FAT TOOL battery is just fine, its the way nearly all companies are doing it, because of the full usage :)

• by littlelen @ 04 Jan 2008 10:22

Try this BEFORE try again if the battery is new or something(not fully recharged) put in MS, plug in AC adapter.... charge the battery... as usual to its full... NOT RECOMMENDED but working, is to put in Magic MS, plug AC adapter, make to PSP OFF. then insert TOOL battery :)

• by larrylje @ 04 Jan 2008 15:10

Please keep questions relevant to the guide only!

If you have questions on how to play ISO/PSX games. How to backup NAND etc. etc. go to the forum and search for those answer.

Do not clutter up this guide with questions that do not pertain to what the guide is about. I will only delete them from the comment section.

@Abyss1000

The 3.71 M33-4 update is in the UPDATE folder.

@littlelen

Pertaining to...
-| Boot PSP into recovery mode by pressing the R button at startup |-
-| Go into Advanced in recovery mode |-
-| Format flash1 and restore settings |-

Is these steps neccary?
First of all these steps are not included in this guide so why ask if they are necessary if they are not listed?

Usually you have to perform these steps if you have created a Magic Memory Stick that installs a semi-bricked XMB (only time and date shows up). This occurs when creating a Magic Memory Stick on a custom firmware PSP that has a custom theme installed to it. The easy installer used in this guide creates the Magic Memory Stick differently and will not create a semi-bricked Magic Memory Stick that would need the above steps performed.

@Abyss1000

As stated by the last 2 comments. The Datel Tool Battery is fine and can be used in the PSP SLIM. What you can do is plug the PSP SLIM in via AC Adapter and then place the Datel Tool Battery in afterwords. Let the Battery charge for a few hours then unplug the AC Adapter and try using the Datel Tool battery again.

If you still have issues then you probably got a FAKE or DEFECTIVE Datel Tool battery.
