Nice having an "Alpha" female in our midst. You help make AD a more interesting place.

  • kitty66 (09 Feb 2007 10:03)

Hey Auslander *poke* to you too. Be a good wolfsef

  • kitty66 (09 Feb 2007 10:05)

    Hey Pac, why thanks! Shucks...

I will try to post more detailed pics of the wheel. The central part is connected by three arms that lead to a hub that slides on to the gear motor.

  • Auslander (09 Feb 2007 11:13)

alpha female? aww, she and her guy are going to try to be dominant over the pack! i dun wanna be submissive again! XD

i think i will go eat those admin.

  • PacMan777 (09 Feb 2007 22:03)

Kitty, without seeing the rest of the setup around the waterwheel, I can't tell what the environment is like. Since water and electricity don't mix well, I would have liked to get the motor away from the wheel with a shaft drive. The shaft could be direct drive or a pully system could be set up for overdrive or underdrive depending on the RPM needed for optimum motor performance. I guess a lot of thought went into wheel size and water flow to control the speed factor though.

  • kitty66 (10 Feb 2007 11:51)

    Hey Pac,

The induction motor is a wash down motor so it can withstand wet zones. Also, the capacitors are in a wash down case. There was no way to separate it too much without loosing a lot of efficiency. After capacitance we send the resulting 3phase to the battery room which is vented, enclosed etc. The wet part is attached to an overhang shaft (very short) that fits my gear motor, that then fits into my induction motor. It has all wash down specs there is only one side attached. It is the view of the pic. The other side is free, although I may add another gear reducer and motor on that side too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would double my power and I would need to set up diversion loads though. BUT that said if it is accomplished I may be able to run the air conditioner in the summer (UNHEARD OF around here) As it stands right now I produce more RE (renewable energy) amps than anyone in the area. They thought I was a crazy city chick too...now who's crazy, I produce more power than YOU. MY Way. Some people are resistant to change...now can you believe that.

Thanks for the SW heads up pac, I will pm you later...much work to do today, not too much time to play with projects.

  • Auslander (10 Feb 2007 20:57)

    the wolfie like pokes. :-P

  • PacMan777 (11 Feb 2007 19:13)

    Kitty
How many motors can the wheel turn before it starts to stall?

Change? I don't believe that's in some people's vocabulary. LOL Sounds like the city girl took to country life like a duck to water. You didn't start building Green Acres and upset the locals did you?

No hurry on the software, it's just something to tinker with. It may or may not work for you with your system. Some people don't have the patience. Normally is just a bit longer than using Shrink with the quality settings in use.

  • kitty66 (11 Feb 2007 21:27)

Now Pac, you know I upset the locals. And yes it is a little Green Acres around here...my husband has blue hair! You wanna have some fun, dye your hair blue and head out to podukaville...it's called country fear factor!!!!!!! Too much!

I will not stall the wheel but I may have to open up the water flow some. Right now I have about half of it blocked off as It only pushes the wheel so fast under a load. 12 rpm's is about max I can use. Now with two motors I expect to have to double my flow to keep the 12rpm's up as it is twice the load and twice as hard to push.

I can be patient! I still am going to give it a try. I fear tomorrow will be another dog search day...

    Cheers.

    Kitty
Know what you're saying. If a guy doesn't go down to the local barber shop for the number 2 soup bowl every week he's an outcast. LOL

If it was me, I'd have every motor that wheel could turn. I like AC in the summertime. I remember before we had AC. There was a shady spot on the creek by our house and it usually had a breeze. Some days I'd take a comfortable chair and a book and stay there through the worst part of the day. It's amazing how different the temp was in a matter of a few yards. Good luck with teh extra motor(s).

  • Auslander (13 Feb 2007 6:08)

and now i'm dying from the flu or a megacold or something.

    *coughs up 3 lungs* ........wtf?

    hi.

  • kitty66 (13 Feb 2007 9:45)

Pac, so so true. I have a favorite spot in the creek on the north side of the house that stays cool, but dang it I want air conditioning. I AM going to try to get the motor on the other side. I think I am going to have to balance it first on either side then use one shaft to mount...fun stuff.

    Cheers!

  • Auslander (14 Feb 2007 14:41)

    and...i feel like death >.<

  • Auslander (18 Feb 2007 15:12)

i want to stop coughing. >.<

I didn't think the Slysoft forum would amount to much. A retail software company hosting a forum would have to have the underlying goal of improving sales. They wouldn't want to hear the truth and mods would be encouraged to lead threads in the direction favorable to the software. AnyDVD has been lagging and some titles require CloneDVD 2. Not something Slysoft wants broadcasted when they want to sell AnyDVD as a standalone. Now... once they get AnyDVD sold, they encourage buying CloneDVD 2 when it fails with other software, which it's been doing with Shrink lately. 20 lashes for the forum member who suggests another software over a Slysoft product. LOL

    Kitty
At the old homeplace I had one of those cool creek spots. I still prefer the conditioned stuff in the house, fewer bugs and less concern about the weather. Sometimes the rain makes things more miserable instead of cooling things down .

  • kitty66 (02 Mar 2007 14:14)

Oh I know pac I hate that forum. I still kinda like the products and would have suggested them to quite a few people until that forum started and I could see where the cookies were crumbling so to speak.

If I feel some shrink user is being particularly abused I PM all the ripit info to them via the slysoft forum...ohhhhhhhh bad girl! Fuggum.

    Cheers

    Spent the last year
    Rocky Mountain Way
    Couldn't get much higher
    Out to pasture
    Think it's safe to say
    Time to open fire
And we don't need the ladies
    Crying 'cuz the storie's sad
    'Cuz the Rocky Mountain Way
Is better than the way we had
    Well he's tellin' us this
    And he's tellin' us that
    Changes it every day
    Say's it doesn't matter
Bases are loaded and Casey's at bat
    Playin' it play by play
    Time to change the batter
And we don't need the ladies
Crying 'cuz the storie's sad, uh huh
    Rocky Moutain Way
Is better than the way we had
    Hey, hey, hey, hey

If you look at your reflection in the bottom of a well,
What you see is only on the surface.
When you try to see the meaning, hidden underneath,
The measure of the depth can be deceiving.
The bottom has a rocky reputation

You can feel it in the distance the deeper down
    you stare.
From up above it's hard to see
but you know when you're there.
On the bottom words are shallow.
    The surface talk is cheap.
You can only judge the distance by the company you keep
In the eyes of the confessor.

In the eyes of the confessor,
There's no place you can hide.
You can't hide from the eyes (of the confessor)
    Don't you even try.
In the eyes of the confessor
    You can't tell a lie,
You cannot tell a lie (to the confessor)
    Strip you down to size,
Naked as the day that you were born,
Naked as the day that you were born.

Take all the trauma, drama, comments,
The guilt and doubt and shame
The what if's and if only's
    The shackles and the chains
    The violence and aggresion,
    The pettiness and scorn,
    The jealousy and hatred,
    The tempest and discord,
    And give it up!
