  Just here to help(I might be a little vague when helping sometimes) thats my only downfall-i guess i just automatically assume that people can use deductive reasoning to fill in the little details.

  hey i saw you said that its good to freeze your hd to prevent failing.. how often should i do this, and as well for how long do i leave it in there, and lastly how long should i wait once i take it out before plugging it back in... liek do i wait for it to cool down or jsut when i take it out its ready to get back in and turned on? finally, is it the same for external drives?

  What i did for the external drive was.
  
  Take the external drive out-(dont wait for it too cool down(only wasting time))
  Wrap it in a paper towel to soak up any condensed moisture from the freezer.
  Put that in a ziploc bag and seal it up(try to suck the air out of it)
  
  I left the hard drive in the freezer overnight(when you go to bed put it in, when you wake up just take it out)
  
  Clean off any condensation
  
  Plug in immedialty(do not wait for it to warm up.

  Hi, You had told me that if I posted my email address, you will send some programs that will help with booting Windows 2000 without knowing the old password. I posted that address above. When you have time, would you please help? Thank you so much - this is for a disabled mother and her 10 year old son that have never had a computer.
