Games and music

07 Nov 2006 0:27

I have been lucky enough to see and hear how games have evolved in the last 20 years or so,
one thing that bothers me is the music and how it is gone from awesome to crap.

20 years ago, in the age of Commodore and Vic and all the other real gaming machines, games were crude, the graphics were quite horrible, the sounds were more or less crap, but the music was good.

There is not a one oldschool gamer who don't know the music of such games as The Last ninja, Gianna sister, Super Mario bross ...
In those days making music was not easy due to the limitations of the machines, but somehow they managed to do so.
In those days the music makers were true artists, they could make beautiful melodies come out of the little box that barely could do anything.

Now we all have superpowerfull machines at home, everybody can do music, but still the music in games is getting worse and worse.
happily every now and then comes a game with music that is bearable, but still they are a pale shadows compared to the good old days.

What has happened to music ?, and what can we do to make it come back again?

Please Gods of gaming music bring back the good old days of gaming, when music ruled the games.
