  • BluRay (30 Jul 2006 10:34)

    Hi Hot_Ice love your blogs.
    When will there be peace?
    War is good for noone.

  • hot_ice (30 Jul 2006 12:00)

Well, after watching images on CNN of a one day old lebanese infant dead, I really can't say I have a definitive answer...This whole ordeal saddens me, it is clear, that an escalation is being observed on both sides, with mounting tensions and anger... How do you achieve the cessation of hostilities one wonders?

By disarming the whole region, all arab countries and Israel, and asking them to, in the first instance, to consider their humanity, and denounce all violence. Then, to have a comprehensive assessment of the Palestinian/Israeli land dilemma, and form a separate Palestinian state. Have the 300000 or so Palestinians return to their now, newly formed Palestine from Lebanon, and creating a working relationship between Israel and the now newly formed Palestine.

Both sides forgiving one another for 58 years of violence, and now, for the first time, helping one another for the betterment of the Middle-East. I think, if that were true, everyone would be happy, everyone would live in peace, and Arabs and Israelis would call themselves brothers and sisters...

Therefore, peace will only observed when Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq become sovereign states and their cities are rebuilt. If anything, the crisis we now observe, teaches us one thing, that we all dependent on one another, as an international global community, and that we need to do all we can, to help alleviate the suffering of civilians caught in the crossfire of war.

Therefore, please consider donating generously, to a humanitarian organization that will help alleviate the pain and suffering of a people.

  • BluRay (31 Jul 2006 1:21)

But why disarm Arab states and Israel, why not disarm the US and UK and France, the biggest supplier of weapons in the world.

  • BluRay (31 Jul 2006 1:22)

    Imagine a world without weapons.
It is a bit hard to imagine though.

  • rav009 (31 Jul 2006 6:30)

    Hi hot_ice :)

  • hot_ice (01 Aug 2006 1:13)

Bluray, a world without weapons is possible, only when we stop plotting stop conceiving ways of killing one another. The elimination of borders would be great, where we are the people of the world, however, even this is problematic...There is no real solution for all the woes in this world, however, a collective disarmement of humanity will serve to preserve the Earth for future generations to come...

    Hi Rav009

  • dsstrlght (01 Aug 2006 18:20)

    sad.. so sad

  • xhardc0re (03 Aug 2006 9:06)

People who strive for peace should not be seen as weak. They are good people and your friends.

  • BluRay (07 Aug 2006 3:33)

I dont want a demolition man utopia, that scares me, i hate change.
Oh and I want salt on my food, and i want butter on my bread, and the last thing i want is DemoMan utopia.
the film is kinda good though but Rambo's better.
Oh and i dont want to wear those silly outfits either.
    But i do like peace

  • hot_ice (08 Aug 2006 11:35)

Everybody likes peace, I don't think anyone wants to live in an environment of war and uncertainty.

  • Auslander (08 Aug 2006 15:54)

i like your views. i've nothing interesting or intellectually amazing to spout beyond that.

  • hot_ice (09 Aug 2006 17:15)

Thank you auslander, I would like to hear yours, don't be shy to say whatever you think or feel on the matter.

  • xhardc0re (11 Aug 2006 10:52)

@hot_ice: I think Benjamin Franklin (signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, author, scientist, philosopher, writer, businessman, diplomat, etc.) said it best: "Those who give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"

  • tycobb (11 Aug 2006 11:52)

Ben franklin is a good man who lived in bad times.
I know you mean good by that ,but it is in fact a pro war statement LOL.It's about the revolution he's saying those who give up freedom to obtain temporary safety from the english don't deserve freedom or safety.

Political war mongers often pull from that to justify going to war. Here's a link to a more recent example.

One great American thinker I can think of, is Noam Chomsky, he excels both in linguistics, and politics. Chomsky gives in depth analysis on a lot of issues, ranging from anywhere from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Middle-East. He's always well researched, impartial and objective.

  • hot_ice (13 Aug 2006 19:19)

Mearsheimer and Walt's views are equally as interesting...

  • iwantLove (22 Sep 2006 21:26)

Hi, just dropped by to say hello

Kind Regards, and stay healthy and safe, BluRay.

  • dsstrlght (24 Sep 2006 22:32)

Hi. Good luck on your studies. I put some comments on, hopefully with more time here and there I'll get some more on. I'm so tired right now, part of the gift and burden of being someone who cares is being overwhelmed sometimes by disappointment in the sheer numbers of those who are too shallow to care and try to pretend everything is all happy happy perfect when they know very well it is not and how much responsibility they have for contributing to the pain. Or maybe it was just that enormous yellow Hummer that cut in front of me at the gas station today with his smug entitlement to desecrating the environment, and letting poverty stricken young people die for his right to be a selfish oil wasting bastard and flaunting his ill gotten wealth.

  • hot_ice (02 Oct 2006 20:25)

Dsstright, we have permanently damaged our environment, the only thing we can resort to is trying to salvage what we have left, but at the rate we are going...we will witness the next stage of evolution on this planet...

  • dsstrlght (25 Oct 2006 13:13)
