M14 is still in active service after 40+ years, many new Guns based on the same firing mechanics as this one.

the M14 was actually based on the M1 carbine. a rifle with a very similar apperence.

Oh yeah....very nice to shoot. Shot one a few times when I was at Ft. Benning.

Springfield Armory M1A, with 20 round clip. 7.62 NAtO , 147 grain boat tail bullet at 2650 fps muzzle. And a sweet flash hider to boot !
