Hey DVD! Long long time lurker here but finally nutted up and registered. You know the guide you wrote back in 95 called How to pwn teh evil malspam on your Internets ?
Ok so it was a bit more mundane, something like, how to clean Spyware/Malware/BHOs or something. Im a mid-high level PC user (been an IT manager, tech support, grew up on an Apple II, Commodore, TRS-80, Amiga, Atari 800... then x86 and Mac (both, currently).
But I found your guide a nice summary of the steps to take, requiring me to think less, plus a great link to send to others who were having problems so that I could avoid actually helping them myself.
QUESTION though: Its a bit long in the tooth. Any chance of a new, up to date version sometime soon? If not, do you know any similarly thorough walkthroughs to removing crap from Windows that a normal intelligent person could follow along with? Thanks bro!
I tend to overkill the cleaning process, which works, but I surely use some programs which are redundant. A nice current guide with up-to-date freeware references and instructions that include Windows 7 along with XP would kick ass. I think a lot of people would refer to it.
