I was standing just a few blocks down the street on Briggs when I took this Monday about 6:40 pm. The fire is incredible.

open the top picture full size. The others are as big as photobucket will let me make them but I was able to size the top one bigger for Afterdawn but not too big.

Your photos show exactly what the fire dept. spokesperson meant when he called the fire angry. It must have been scary! Were you as close as it looks or does your new camera have a powerful telephoto lens? What kind of camera did you get?

I saw the flames from Los Alamitos when I visited my dad on 8/27. And we could smell the smoke in the desert the following weekend. I'm so glad that they've kept the flames from Mt. Wilson (so far). I was fortunate enough to be invited to look through the 60 scope on two different occasions. It is huge! We had to climb a ladder just to reach the eyepiece. And the things we saw were amazing! The galaxies, nebulae (especially cat's eye), star clusters - it made me feel so tiny!

And a very, very belated thank you for the New Year's photo you sent. The gulls with their shadows and the sparkles in the sand are so beautiful!

Oops! I forgot that afterdawn takes away a lot of puncuation marks! There were quotes around angry and it should be 60 inch scope. While my grammar is far from perfect it is not as bad as it looks!

The punctuation thing is one of those Afterdawn oddities.
