My New Year�s Wish for 2008
I have seen some online greetings that show a pitifully passed out pathetic loser with an unfinished drink in his hand and women's underwear next to his face. The greeting ironically says that the sender wishes the recipient's holiday was "this much fun".

I don't wish anyone out of control drunkenness or passing out, nor any kind of self abuse mistakenly labeled as "fun". I absolutely refuse to post that kind of New Year's greeting because I think it's wrong. It sends a message that is totally against everything I believe in. If you wake up passed out with a drink or twenty beside you and women's underwear I guarantee you at some point you were too far gone to have enjoyed it as fully as you could have. You probably did something that will have embarassed you immensely or those around you and lessened the enjoyment that could have been. You may have even endangered your life or those of others. And when you passed out you missed out on all of the fun that followed.

Which is why I instead say party hearty! Drink, enjoy and have a wonderful time with those you love but remember that it is the time you spend with them that makes it fun, not how drunk you are. Always have a designated driver or have your party at home where you will be safe. Remember that drinking is like putting salt or sugar on your food. Use enough to make it enjoyable and fun, not so much that you will be sick for days afterwards. If you can't get up the next day and feel fine, you had too much. It's that simple. Any more is stupid, and you end up paying more in hurt than you gained in fun. It makes no more sense to overdrink than it does to eat the entire chocolate cake yourself just because you like chocolate or to pour the entire salt shaker into your mouth just because you like salty tastes. Anyone ever heard of diminishing returns?

I want you all to be alive and healthy after the New Year's celebrations are over. There is too much wonderful beautiful living and you should not miss out on it. If the circumstances of your life are such that you feel the best thing you have to look forward to in 2008 is to get smashed again, you're avoiding some kind of change you need to make in your life so that it can be better. If you can't make love to someone or have a fun evening with your friends completely sober then something is wrong. I drink because it is fun but I have just as much fun on the nights I am the designated driver. At any point if you have to drink or use any drugs just to have the same amount of fun I am having, you're in trouble. I love being able to choose to drink, sometimes quite a bit and still stay in control, still know that the next day I will not have lost a second of my day to ill effects because I stayed within sensible limits. Can you say the same about yourself? Are you guilty of promoting damaging behavior in others or are you a caring loving enough person not to lower yourself to that? Do you care enough about yourself and your friends? Maybe you need to volunteer to be the designated driver tonight. Maybe you need to make sure someone in your group will be. I don't want to see any of you mourning anyone next week.

Women, are you posting nothing but the lowest IQ looking bare assed bimbo graphics on your friend's pages? Is this the best you can do? Intelligent equal women are way sexier than mouthbreathing bimbos. Is this really how you want men to think of you? As nothing more than interchangeable inflatable sex dolls? Sex is amazing and beautiful. Don't cheapen it and yourselves that way. Let's promote the true sexiness of equality and respect. You can be totally naked and not be a bimbo. Naked is beautiful Bimbos are revolting, so enough already. All you're proving by posting bimbo pictures is how pathetically empty your imagination is.

I love you all and want you to live the fullest most wonderful lives possible. Don't settle for mere smashed endurance. What a pitiful goal. Aim higher and higher and do it! I believe it is possible and necessary! With love anything is possible. Happy New Year!
