more quotes

Love is the passionate and abiding desire on the part of two
people to produce together conditions under which each
can be and spontaneously express, his real self; to produce
together an intellectual soil and an emotional climate in which
each can flourish, far superior to what either could achieve alone....Unknown

To love someone is to acknowledge the goodness of who they are.
Through loving a person we awaken their awareness of their own innate
goodness. It is as though they cannot know how worthy they are until they
look into the mirror of our love and see themselves....John Gray, Ph.D.

All love that has not friendship for its base,
is like a mansion built upon the sand....Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

Real love is a pilgrimage. It happens when there is no strategy,
but it is very rare because most people are strategists....Anita Brookner.

The love of liberty is the love of others;
the love of power is the love of ourselves.
We cannot force love....William Hazlitt

Love is the child of freedom, never
that of domination....Erich Fromm.

It is wrong to think that love comes from long companionship
and persevering courtship. Love is the offspring of spiritual
affinity and unless that affinity is created in a moment, it will
not be created for years or even generations....Kahlil Gibran.

Love never claims, it ever gives; love never suffers,
never resents, never revenges itself. Where there is love
there is life; hatred leads to destruction....Mahatma Gandhi.

We really have to understand the person we want to love.
If our love is only a will to possess, it is not love. If we
only think of ourselves, if we know only our own needs and ignore
the needs of the other person, we cannot love....Thich Nat Hanh.

Love does not bind with chains and demands,
love gives the soul wings. Love teaches freedom
and happiness and gives inner peace....Unknown.

Marry a person you love to talk to. As you
get older, their conversational skills
will be as important as any other....Unknown.

Death is a challenge. It tells us not to waste
time...it tells us to tell each other right now
that we love each other....Leo F. Buscaglia

There is seemingly so little love shared in this world,
it is not surprising that we ask, "Where have all
the lovers gone?" Since love is the most vital energy
for good that is within our power to utilize, it is puzzling
why we so seldom do so. Love is just a useless, abstract idea
until we put it into action...unless we are always actively
living in love, we are not utilizing the greatest gift we have
been given and which we, in turn, have to offer....Leo Buscaglia

Each of us is responsible for creating an environment
of warmth and consideration for those we love. I have
always tried to define a good day not in terms of one
in which all things were made right and comfortable for
me but rather, as a day in which I have been able to make
another's day more loving and special for them. We must
treat each other with dignity. Not because we merit it
but because we grow best in thoughtfulness....Leo Buscaglia.

Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission.
It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon
authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect
and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely
given by a healthy, unafraid human being....Dan Barker

Do you want me to tell you something really
subversive? Love is everything it's cracked
up to be. That's why people are so cynical
about it...it really is worth fighting for,
being brave for, risking everything for.
And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything,
you risk even more....Erica Jong

a heartfelt thanks!

The public voting phase of the Dean Shredder search is over and we wanted to thank everyone who voted for JJ Bartlett. All the positive comments, reposted bulletins and support meant a lot.

Although he didn't make it into the top 50 that goes to the next phase, your votes did put him ahead of 84% of all the people who entered the contest!
That's something we can be very proud of. Entries came from all over the world.

Enjoy your day off, honor the Veterans who gave their lives and smile!

Thanks,

Josi

MP3 Lizard, Afterdawn and promoting our own!

(05 Nov 2008 22:43)

I've been spending a lot of time online getting out the vote for JJ in the Dean Shredder Search, but the support we have gotten from Afterdawn people is extra special because this site is where it all started in terms of the online presence of JJ's music. A number of years ago, when JJ was first thinking of putting some of his songs online, another friend told him about this site called MP3 Lizard where you could put your music. He'd had good results and recommended it. Despite some people discouraging him from trying, JJ went ahead and put some of his Project Brainstorm music up. I was excited and happy to see that right from the beginning, the Afterdawn community embraced it. So much so that Rkr and Brainstorm's music continue to be among the most downloaded and recommended metal tracks on
MP3 Lizard to this day. One of JJ's songs was the #2 most downloaded metal song on MP3 Lizard this past week.
So as I go around the web this week asking everyone to go to the Dean Shredder Search and vote for JJ, I'm proud that everyone watching his video there can then read about how they can go to MP3 Lizard to download the full version of Scream to the Edge and other songs.
When we vote for JJ and send friends to vote, we are supporting someone who has been a part of the Afterdawn community for several years. You have helped download his songs approximately 18.000 times. Now I want to thank you for helping him win the Dean Shredder Search!

haha this is great!

(01 Nov 2008 4:14)

I came across this today and loved it. : ) Take that Rednecks!

Dear Red States,

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're
taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that
includes Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin,
Michigan, Illinois, New York, and all of the Northeastern states. After this
election, we'll be adding Colorado and New Mexico. We believe this split
will be beneficial to the nation, especially to the people of our new
country - Nuevo California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states; we get
stem cell research, the best beaches, and the best ski resorts. We get the
Statue of Liberty; you get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft; you get
WorldCom. We get Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cal Tech, MIT and
Columbia; you get Ole' Miss. We get 85 percent of America's venture capital
and entrepreneurs; you get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue;
you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than that of the
Christian Coalition, we get a bunch of happy families and you get a bunch of
under-educated single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti- war, and
we'll need all of our citizens back from Iraq at once.

If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They apparently have
kids they're willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't
mind if you don't televise their kid's caskets coming home. We do wish you
success in Iraq and hope that those Weapons of Mass Destruction turn up for
you, but we're not willing to spend any more of our money in Bush's
Quagmire.

With the Blue States, we will control 80 percent of the country's fresh
water, 90 percent of pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh
fruit, 97 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at
your state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese,
90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all
living redwoods, sequoias and condors, and all the Ivy League and Seven
Sister schools. We also get New England, the Great Lakes and Yosemite, thank
you very much.

In the Red States, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese
Americans and their projected health care costs, 92 percent of all U.S.
mosquitoes, 100 percent of tornadoes, 94 percent of hurricanes, 99 percent
of Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, and Rush
Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bob Jones University, and Clemson.

Additionally, in the Red States, 38 percent actually believe Jonah was
swallowed by a whale; 62 percent believe life is sacred unless it involves
the death penalty or gun ownership; 44 percent claim that evolution is only
a theory; 53 percent insist that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11; and 61
percent of you crazy bastards believe you have higher moral standards than
those of us on the left.

By the way, we're taking all the good pot, too. You get that dirt weed from
Mexico and Kansas ditches.

Peace out, The Blue States
