Hard Drive Update

It has been approved by eBuyer and I am sending it back.

Zero-filled the drive and Re-Formatted it for data security. Scanned it using SpeedFan, oh it's got no bad sectors now. It's still going back because I'm sure the second some data goes on there where the bad sectors were it will start playing up again.

Server Hard Drive

This week I've had some problems with my media/file/torrent (basically everything) server. The main storage Hard Drive (a Samsung SpinPoint 500GB) has started making a horrible clicking sound when accessing certain files. After a bit of research (and a SMART scan of course) it's just where it's trying to read damaged sectors. So I'm going to try and send the drive back to eBuyer.

I've managed to back everything up from it so I'm rather lucky I suppose but it's put me off Samsung Hard Drives. There again, it could be a lack of cooling. It's on and being used for seeding 24/7 on cooled by a single 120mm fan at the rear of the case. The Western Digital that accompanies it for Windows XP seems to to be fine though so I'm not sure. Might just fit a front 120mm fan as well, theres a space for one.

In other news this week, Demonoid is back up so it's prompted a bit a torrent uploading, but of course that's going to have to wait as my server is not running. I have reorganized existing ones though, and uploaded new ones being tracked by The Pirate Bay that have been running for some time so that's a start.
