Holidays and weather

08 Aug 2007 6:22

In Finland, we have quite generous (at least from U.S. perspective) summer vacation of four weeks. Had mine in July -- and it pretty much rained whole of July. Now that I'm (at least partially -- the good thing about being an enterpreuner..) back from my holidays, temperatures are hitting 25-32C constantly and sky is crystal clear.

Even tho, as a business owner, it sounds bad, but in countries like Finland, where the warm summer period is quite short (basically meaning that you can go out without a jacket only between beginning of May and end of September) I think that summer holidays should be noted as "when its above 25C and not raining, office will be closed" :-)

That sounds like a good idea to me. I'm so sorry it rained all through your vacation. I'm very spoiled here in Los Angeles. Even my friends in other parts of the US have much worse weather most of the year compared to us. You should see what babies they are in LA when it rains at all- the freeways are full of traffic accidents because they forget what it's like to drive on wet pavement! As always, thank you for everything you do here.

I used to live in London for several years and I can somewhat understand what you mean about traffic jams when weather changes. It snowed on _one_ day during my stay in London (4 years) and on that very day, motorways were clogged, people didnt dare to take cars to streets, tube was overcrowded, etc. Well, being a Finn, I drove 70mph on motorway as I always do, one of the very few days that I managed to get from Heathrow to West London in less than 15 mins :-)
