  i don't ever sleep much as i have to get up too early for work. and i hate wasting time working/driving to and from work so i stay up as late as i can to get some "me time" lol.
  
  @Daniel_G - i've thoroughly tested a few eyetoy webcams, i've now got one plugged into my folks' pc permanently too, and they were only £5 each. nice.. best gadget i've had in ages. my £40 webcam just gathers dust now. i even keep an eyetoy cam in my laptop bag just in case i wanna show my pretty face off on the move :O

  LOL @ permiggs. Yeah, I think our friendly Moderator creaky is one of the most active mod here at AD. Man, it sucks though, now that AD "must" remove all those useful guides.   Hi "Creaky" From the forums, its seems that you ARE THE PRO on NERO 7! I'm having problems with installing NERO 7 Ultra. I purchased a full copy today at Best Buy but every time I type in the serial # it tells me its invalid?!!!
  I previously installed a TRIAL version of Nero 7 and found a 'keygen' on the internet which extended the trial until Jan1,2006...so I bought the full version. Now its telling me the serial# I installed is invalid?!! ANY IDEAS TO HELP ME PLEEASE?!

  Hi Creaky....don't know if you remember me...was august last year and I was having trouble with my pc crashing every time I tried to burn a cd/dvd with Nero.....just wanted to say thank you again for your help and that the problem has only just been fixed. Apparently, the fan has not worked since the day I bought my computer (july last year) and when it over-heated, my computer would shut itself down as a protection mechanism.   @MaxBurn, lol. i know there's not much going in my box, i try to look in once a day but i figure i leave my make all over the place already (like a dog or cat i guess) so i don't mind the box bding quiet or even boring. i'm happy enough spreading the humour as far and wide as i can :O
  @janrocks (bless her), and ooooerrr mrs yaself!. as to a IM client, i use amsn, not too bad, it's at 0.95 (in fact i think it's been at 0.95 for like 17years), there's gabber, kopete, i think there's a version of trillian too. i often think of trying other distros but i lose interest, mandrake or mandriva is always where i end up back to. which reminds me i gotta reinstall doom, quake etc etc. as to bird flu for noobs, can't help ya with that, other than have some lemsip :P

  i couldn't get that pesky java stuff to work. in then end i had to use port 7000 but still java didn't work but mirc did. now i've moved i can use 6667 and mirc and xchat. haven't a need to try the java thingy again so dunno really..

  @jan - wicked animation there. that's how i've been feeling all week at work so i booked today off to just chill, though i gotta check the front brakes on my car soon.
  as to mirc, it took me aes to get it cracked, Cozza and MrTazUK got me sorted in the end. i think it was just the port 7000 in the end. the channel is '#ad_buddies' once you've connected to irc.stormchat.org..
  You tried to burn with the proverbial k3b, seems to do the biz..

  yeah the Dumpster Diving thread is great fun to read. as to Animal Crossing it's a game, i got it on the Gamcube for my kids. it's real cool but too young for me; haven't got a nintendo DS so dunno what it's like on there, but i think it's all a front for some secret sexual fetishes really

  @rav, i do like a good natter on buddies, haven't been on for ages. apparently it's less than 2weeks (been hearing that for months!) 'til we get rid of cable b/band in the house and go to 'proper' broadband (hopefully the better side of 8mb); then i can use the much better wireless router i have bought & tested flawlessly (on the boat as we have 3mb b/band on the boat) and hopefully the connection problems will cease. i even hung a huge CAT5 cable out the window to downstairs thinking that only the wireless part of my cheapy router was at fault but it even locks up using wired connection, it's basically just a crap router that's going back to PC World soon. What's really annoying is that the router (mostly) works ok when i'm only using yahoo messenger or similar, but each time i open a webpage connection, splat, it locks up and hangs the router - how crap is a router that can't handle webpage traffic. Grrrrr.
  Also been real busy with all sorts, including finding a new job which i think i'm edging nearer to now, hav a few irons in the fire (yay!). then i can come spend more time around here again. Work is a real, real bad place to be, it's time i jumped ship and hooked myself a better job. won't be long now

  hi, how's it going; Animal Crossing is a game on the Nintendo Gamecube, DS etc. My kids love the Gamecube version, they play it for ages and ages. However the AD fiends who post about Animal Crossing must be raving perverts or something.

  nah, you need the real Nero kings/queens who still keep the Nero forum fed full of answers, i managed to keep on top of that forum for a year when it was first created but it was taking up too much of my time. I keep meaning to ask my buddy phantom69 to redo my sig to take out the Nero bit as i very rarely contribute on Nero stuff anymore due to time contraints. Maybe i could have the sig read "Nero-Nator : Judgment Day" :)
  Gwendolin (among others) in said forum tends to comment a lot on Nero version stability so i'd have a quick browse of some of her posts..

  rdmercer1 . Usually I dont answer forum related questions in Shoutbox, but at creaky's request. The latest versions of Nero(anything after 7.0.8.2 )is, in my opinion "Trouble". Stick with 6.6.0.18 or if you choose Nero7 then go for this one 7.0.8.2 from here.

  i've got a tub of Imation DVD-RW (i would never use write-once media by Imation again after previous horrendous problems) that i use on my dvd recorder and they seem to work fine; (only used a few, and a few times) so haven't had to check the MID codes yet.

  Hey man, just tried the double burn of 2 DVDs same time. Sweet! I had tested it a couple of other times with crap media, this was for keepers. I used AnyDVD and Shrink to make the ISO and Nero Burning Rom to coordinate the burn. Smooth. I have a simple question. The option in Recode to make and Image copy: Is that same as an ISO file? Because I would prefer to use Recode cause it's quicker? Just wondering. You're right about seeing both burning as a thing of beauty and actually working. Thanks for the advice in the threads; I never would have thought it was possible. gary

  Hi mate I saw one of your posts on DVD media not sure where to start really but live in the uk and am a complete newb at backing up my vids and was wanting some advice on the best place online to buy from, can you buy direct from the us or cheapest place in the uk?

  The 2500A is dual format and has no dual layer capability. I'd stick with the dash format until you find a drive that gives you a no disc error. It should do 16x,depending if your firmware is up to date on that drive.
  
  The 4x media is about extinct,8x is getting there-so 16x media is what the majority of stores sell. Make sure it's some quality stuff like verbatim or taiyo yuden.

  If you have visited the site, contextually it is nothing more than a repository of files for ps2 related backups (ie. I don't gain anything, it is intended as a resource to help others) I don't see how it is any different than making a text link pointing to an external site (which several people have). the sole exception being that it the URL is contained within an image itself (images in sigs don't appear to be linkable also)
  
  In that sense strict enforcement of the rules may not be entirely justified (and no where do I see this explicitly in the rules), if having a url within an image in your sig is deemed 'advertising' I don't see why it does not apply to text links that can be found on many other users signatures. Please enlighten me.

  Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key:
  
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  
  It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel.
  
  Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected.
  
  Open Device Manager again and check whether the device is now actually using DMA mode. If so, congratulations, you've made it (at least until the next time Windows disables DMA).

  Creaky, thank you for closing out the duplicate posting I did regarding the Problem with ANY program recognizing .bup, .ifo, .vob files. I did do a search before posting but didn't see anybody

  Creaky, well I guess trying to find help in another forum didn't do any good as you seem to think I'm just cross posting. That really isn't my intention, I'm just trying to get help with this problem. I've never heard of the program cyprusrom has pointed me to but I've downloaded it. I'm going to answer his question and see what else he has to offer, unless that's going to cause problems. Maybe I shouldn't be bringing this torrent problem to AD, maybe I'm on the wrong site for this. Truth be told, torrents take forever to download and half of them seem to have some kind of problem. Back to cyprusrom, I do want to answer his question though and see if he/she has anything else to offer. One last thing, before posting to the Nero forum I did multiple searches and found the Archived Guide /how_to_play_vob___ifo___bup_files.cfm but it didn't answer my questions.   i did try to use a newer build twice, 2 different xboxes went blank; after reading a post somewhere, out there, it seems it would have been because the Project Mayhem skin was in use (it was, it was running) during the update, possible hence why it got buggered; haven't bothered updating any of my boxes since though, they all work fine with that version of XBMC; if i start updating i'll get sucked into updating all the time, stuff that :P

  Jan - am gutted today, my main xbox decided to trash 200+GB of games (and was hiding the space); not biggie as i keep all DVD's as a backup, it's just the amount of time loading them on that's wasted, plus of course the niggling doubt as to whether it'll happen again; i've put UnleashX on there as the main dashboard now, with XBMC just as an application. Not convinced that'll stop any further corruption/loss, but it's worth a go. Hey ho, keeps us busy

  no my F: disk was untouched, i lost G:, still recopying games onto G: and storing them on a spare PC HDD for a while in case it happens again; but yes i have the RSS feeds going all the time;

  Some games i copied onto G: disappeared again; seems when the xbox says there's approx 75GB-ish left it happily appears to keep copying games (via DVD2Xbox) but only creates empty folders of the game name (plus the countdown of Megabytes left doesn't countdown/or the MB/second countdown doesn't work once the 75GB-ish mark is reached; so for now i'll just leave 75GB unused on there. At least this time (touch wood) 100's of GB hasn't (yet) gone missing. Strange. I'll wager the same thing would happen if i copied more games over via ftp. No biggie, there's a few 100 games on there anyways..

  Maybe I don't fully understand what happened, but I fail to see how there was a multipost. My thread was offering information on how to rip Resident Evil 2 specifically for Vista MCE, using a simple technique and software that can be obtained easily today in 2008. All the other RE2 posts were from 2004 and loaded with outdated info.
  
  I've been through the threads and searched for days. This particular information did not exist. I didn't want to be a leech, so I tried offering something I felt may be useful to others.
  
  If you can explain to me what would have been the correct proceedure to have offered this information, you have my apologies and I will ensure it doesn't happen again. These forums have been very helpful and my intent was only to add to the sharing of up-to-date information. :)

  man i need some help.i brickeb my psp slim recently it was running cw 3.71 m33 2.it wastotally bricked.it was originally a fw 3.72.so i amde some research on how to unbrick it and finally i decided to go for the universal unbricker ver 3.i suppose you know that unbricker.now i used amemory card reader to do all procedures. i had my mod battery ready and followed all the steps.when i put in the card and the battery the psp`s screeen comes on and i have the various options i choose instal 3.71 m33 it installs evertyinhg ok.the next step is to take out the battery and strt up the psp with the ac charger .when i do that i still have my bricked psp.the green led comes on but no effect on screen.please if you can help me do

If the poster is who I think it is, it is quite unethical (and further proves the point I make in the post) that this company is shady! If it turns out to be someone from their company, I know you will deal with their account accordingly ... I just ask that their post be removed since it will have been proven to be false.

  cbmulroon - i'm not as clever as i sound, i simply try to keep forums clean for those people who need to use the threads/posts as a genuine resource. Clearing the place of crap is one way to do that; i know zilch about starview or similar boxes, what i do know is endless pages of lazy posts such as 'codes' help no-one, they do nothing but clutter up the place and stop people who have genuine questions, or even people such as yourself who should be searching, from actually finding the answers they/you actually need.....

  So hey, with all your harddrives, what kinda wattage does your PSU have. Im running a 430 thermaltake. I guess A way I could test it is to run ALL of my usb-ide connections their own power supply, and then try hooking up another harddrive. Since it only has single 12v rail, im really leaning toward insufficient power.

  Just want to say thanks for all the help you had given me with the xboxes a few months back.I have successfully written the same eeprom to 3 different xboxes with an eeprom reader and used xbox hdm to lock the drives I had sussed the frozen part out to do with t he drives. and now have 3 xboxes each with 160gb in each.

  Hey, I saw in one of your comments that you got the port forwarding to work correctly on your xbox 360. I am guessing that you did this to get it out of strict mode. I gave up with it the one night (it had been working fine previously) and the next morning it just worked - yet i was forwarding the exact same ports. Wierd but at least it's (so far) still working..

  I followed alkies guide for Nerovison 4 with great interest. But i have Nero vision 5, and some of the things that Alkohol showed, such as after choosing to write to the HD, choosing the more button, video options, i do NOT get the screen he is showing. So i can't choose quality settings and encoding mode. Is it a problem with version 5 of vision?

  my apologies for for my earlier post about ircdig. I got that information from this site and now things are much different. I was just wondering if it is a subscription site after a trial period or what sort of a situation it is. Any guidance or direction would be fantastic. I'm sorry for taking up your time.   The place is already awash with people posting rubbish hence why they're herded into that first thread. By all means go thru those threads and compile the info but you don't seriously think everyone's going to fill out 19 questions and not swarm the place with junk. I think you underestimate how much effort it is just tracking that one thread and keeping the newcomers contained. Maybe you can thru thru that first thread and PM the posters yourself, that's the only way i see it happening, i know i'm not going to spend any more time managing yet another thread... Sorry but that's the way that i see it.

  floss313 - Sorry but my comment/reason was very clear.jpaulino - you have all the answers you need - i referred you to a few threads chock-full of success stories, you just need to read them!.
  groverfet - Just trying to keep the place clean - if people would search the forums first then we wouldn't have to be housekeep so rigorously for those that genuinely need the help. The gamertag question is a common one, hence you'd have found loads of similar threads hence you'd have got your answers - your inability to search for yourself does not make me petty.
  
  Any more for any more ?. Forum Rules are in my signature, following them (never mind reading them) would avoid all this complaining.
