I previously installed a TRIAL version of Nero 7 and found a 'keygen' on the internet which extended the trial until Jan1,2006...so I bought the full version. Now its telling me the serial# I installed is invalid?!! ANY IDEAS TO HELP ME PLEEASE?!

Hi Creaky....don't know if you remember me...was august last year and I was having trouble with my pc crashing every time I tried to burn a cd/dvd with Nero.....just wanted to say thank you again for your help and that the problem has only just been fixed. Apparently, the fan has not worked since the day I bought my computer (july last year) and when it over-heated, my computer would shut itself down as a protection mechanism. @rav, i do like a good natter on buddies, haven't been on for ages. apparently it's less than 2weeks (been hearing that for months!) 'til we get rid of cable b/band in the house and go to 'proper' broadband (hopefully the better side of 8mb); then i can use the much better wireless router i have bought & tested flawlessly (on the boat as we have 3mb b/band on the boat) and hopefully the connection problems will cease. i even hung a huge CAT5 cable out the window to downstairs thinking that only the wireless part of my cheapy router was at fault but it even locks up using wired connection, it's basically just a crap router that's going back to PC World soon. What's really annoying is that the router (mostly) works ok when i'm only using yahoo messenger or similar, but each time i open a webpage connection, splat, it locks up and hangs the router - how crap is a router that can't handle webpage traffic. Grrrrr.
Also been real busy with all sorts, including finding a new job which i think i'm edging nearer to now, hav a few irons in the fire (yay!). then i can come spend more time around here again. Work is a real, real bad place to be, it's time i jumped ship and hooked myself a better job. won't be long now

Its a XP OS that runs on just 40mb ram, it also has many tweaks already applied, pretty turbo charged, that will go great on the P1w/64mb ram you have in your collection of comps :)

nah, you need the real Nero kings/queens who still keep the Nero forum fed full of answers, i managed to keep on top of that forum for a year when it was first created but it was taking up too much of my time. I keep meaning to ask my buddy phantom69 to redo my sig to take out the Nero bit as i very rarely contribute on Nero stuff anymore due to time contraints. Maybe i could have the sig read "Nero-Nator : Judgment Day" :)
Gwendolin (among others) in said forum tends to comment a lot on Nero version stability so i'd have a quick browse of some of her posts..
rdmercer1 . Usually I dont answer forum related questions in Shoutbox, but at creaky's request. The latest versions of Nero(anything after 7.0.8.2 )is, in my opinion "Trouble". Stick with 6.6.0.18 or if you choose Nero7 then go for this one 7.0.8.2 from here.

i've got a tub of Imation DVD-RW (i would never use write-once media by Imation again after previous horrendous problems) that i use on my dvd recorder and they seem to work fine; (only used a few, and a few times) so haven't had to check the MID codes yet.

Hey man, just tried the double burn of 2 DVDs same time. Sweet! I had tested it a couple of other times with crap media, this was for keepers. I used AnyDVD and Shrink to make the ISO and Nero Burning Rom to coordinate the burn. Smooth. I have a simple question. The option in Recode to make and Image copy: Is that same as an ISO file? Because I would prefer to use Recode cause it's quicker? Just wondering. You're right about seeing both burning as a thing of beauty and actually working. I have a NEC 2500a that writes at 8x max, do you have to buy blanks at the same speed (I really dont know anything about what speed to buy), do i have to buy dvd-r compatible to this drive speed etc or they all the same?
SonnyBill: Get a hold of creaky. He's over there with you in the UK and he'll tell you where to get the quality media at the lowest price.
The 2500A is dual format and has no dual layer capability. I'd stick with the dash format until you find a drive that gives you a no disc error. It should do 16x,depending if your firmware is up to date on that drive.
The 4x media is about extinct,8x is getting there-so 16x media is what the majority of stores sell. Make sure it's some quality stuff like verbatim or taiyo yuden.

I don't gain anything, it is intended as a resource to help others) I don't see how it is any different than making a text link pointing to an external site (which several people have). the sole exception being that it the URL is contained within an image itself (images in sigs don't appear to be linkable also)
In that sense strict enforcement of the rules may not be entirely justified (and no where do I see this explicitly in the rules), if having a url within an image in your sig is deemed 'advertising' I don't see why it does not apply to text links that can be found on many other users signatures. Please enlighten me.

Arrrrrrrr.. seems like I be getting banned again. No way to keep an account in the treasure chest these days.. It's them frigates I tell'ee. Them damn moderatin' ships in the night.. Creakin' up on us in the middle of the dark well after 12 bells when we is enjoying a good bit of boardin' an' pillagin' an a lootin' on the forums... A firin' them ban buttons with no warnin' an bootin' us all into the cold wet sea.
Now there may be some.. arrr tis true.. who would be havin' it that we did walk the plank willin'ly. That be a bold lie.. all we were a doin' were 'avin a bit 'o' fun with a few 'o' them as can't be takin' a joke see. And they does come along and does be puttin' us ashore for a week
Trouble is.. like proper pirates we does be havin' more than the one ship to sail on this wide site. Some they may be ours, and some they may be prizes we have taken. But they all be havin' sails and cannons and leaks. They may think they have sunk us me beautys, but they would be wrong.. arrrrrr

didn't want to drag that thread off-topic creaky, but only 2 of my posts in that thread had nothing to do with solving the issue, and they were responses. i wouldn't quit say everything had digressed to a simple chat, just a friendlier way of posting.
Aus - most threads i come across are dragged off topic, it's time some of you started pausing before posting; it only takes one of you to start then th comments snowball the threads; as the ultimate lurker i know what i see and who does it :P

Masker - the other Transformers thread was actually started before yours, however i don't usually go by the date, i pick one and make sure to link everyone to the one i picked. It's all moot anyway, we'd only ever have one thread for each movie if only people would search first :)
