Blocked sites that school...

19 Mar 2008 19:11 (Edited: 19 Mar 2008 19:11)

Please use the following in good taste!
--------

Sometimes your school blocks sites that you NEED to go to. When your doing a research paper, and your teacher says that the state pays for sites like infohio, that allow you access to pay search engines (these generally cost alot of money, and contain magazine uploads and such). You think, "How stupid! I can get my information on Wikipedia, or use google". However, they claim that information is false. So its come down to the proxies, no problem, right? Wrong! Now schools are using these stupid firewalls that are updated daily blocking proxy servers. I can't get on any site with the word "Proxy" in it, or even type in "Proxy" on google. I have to type Proxies. LAME (not the mp3 dll)!!

Honestly, how many times have you been f-ed over on the internet?
-------------
I hope you use the information provided below in good taste. Meaning, access sites that you need. You shouldn't be on Myspace if your grades need improving, right?

With that in mind, lets begin.
You are going to need very little:
Firefox Browser, or another browser with tabbed browsing.
If your school has an old version of IE, and doesn't have Firefox then try your luck with this...

You are going to need a USB drive for it. Never resorted to using it, or the IE browser, but it may work.

Ok, lets begin..
[1] Open up your chosen browser, Firefox, or IE.

[2] Press the Home button the browser toolbar. You have to do this, even if you are at the hope page.

[3] Open up a tab by pressing CTRL+T. It didn't work when I went File>Tab.

[4] Type in the URL! **It MUST be www.<urlhere>.com or else it won't work! Don't know why, but it won't**

[5] Your done! Your page should load with out problems.

If you have problems (which you shouldn't), try typing in "Wikipedia" in Google, and opening the page with the "Cached" button. That worked at the library on some other blocked sies.

Any questions?
