Hi guys,

As many of you are quite aware, I mainly concern myself with the Xbox side of things. I have a background in Electronics, Consoles, Mobile Phone reverse engineering and am a Network Engineer by trade.

Below you will find my 'Xbox Troubleshooter' which can also be found by clicking on my signature found underneath all my posts.

The Troubleshooter is aimed at helping members find the problem that directly relates to their own issue and hopefully use the corresponding answer to solve the problem.

I have a background in Xbox Softmodding and general hardware issues. I know VERY little about modchips and flashing them so please don't ask.

I would also ask that you thoroughly read through the Troubleshooter before posting either on the forum or here on my personal page.

I do not communicate via email, AIM, MSN Messenger, etc.

I am only too happy to help you through your issues, but I'd like to use them to better the Troubleshooter so others can find their solution quickly and painlessly.

My Troubleshooter and my tutorials are solely written by me (with credit given to certain parties where necessary) and are free to use for personal and private use. Any profiting from these freely available materials is strictly prohibited.

Feel free to enjoy what I can offer and your appreciation for said items will not go unnoticed.

  Hey been reading alot of your tut's and basically im new to the site but i recently soft modded my old x box and stupid me let a friend of mine borrow it well he ended up messing with the programs i installed on my unleash x and needless to say he cleared out my c drive and i went and picked up the ms dash that you have and it works but now when i use my x box i can not go into the xbox live screen it pops up to error 21 and i never used it to get on live is there somewhere that i can fix that or did i do something wrong with the dash file i download

  Hi Chuckhead.
  
  Reading all about your knowledge for the xbox soft mods and I have a little question.
  
  I burnt a new copy of xbox hdm v1.9 with the latest ms-dash in c.
  
  I can get to the option select screen - i do:
  
  1 noapic apm=off (for some reason without those the thing crashes and restarts)
  
  Then the odd following error appears half way down :
  
  hdb: Unknown partition table
  
  hdb: read_intr: status=0x59 {DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error}
  hdb: error = 0x01 {AddrMarkNotFound}, LBAsect=4609027, sector = 4609027
  
  and repeat the above 2 lines on and on and on and on then says I/O error dev 03:40 (hdb) sector 4609027
  
  The harddrive was taken out of a V1.0 xbox - I dont have the eeprom for the xbox backed up as this was my first time dealing with a softmod. I am unsure as to wether or not the xbox drive works, as I get error 16 with the drive in and everything plugged in normally instead of a dash.
  
  Please help me - do you think the drive is dead / or possibly i unlocked it incorrectly or would this not happen for that case?
  
  I better mention that I had the harddrive on secondary ide and cd on primary - but it shouldnt make a difference surely especially when both were detected in bios.

  your stuff has been the most hepful thing i have found on the web so far in my missions of learning about consoles, i have a weird thing now though. i have recently purchased a bunch of xbox 360s and started fixing them i came across one that i did the x clamp fix on it works but only if i hold the power cord a certain way it also gives error code 0001 but my problem is i cant un solder the part that the power supply goes into i dont know what its called or anything do you know how to replace those whatever they are called???

  Hey i have a problem and have not been able to find a solution on here. Could you possibly help me out?
  
  I have a softmodded xbox and the kids did something to the ms dash and it would only load the evox dash through splinter cell and loading the linux checkpoint. Now it wont boot up at all. I turn the xbox on and it gives me the 16 error. what can i do to fix this?

  Hey..I have a softmodded xbox with avalaunch dash and was trying to mod a new HDD, but don't know where to go on my avalaunch menu to do a backup, so I can get the eeprom. If you can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

  I spoken to you a while back when I got an eeprom reader.I think that I have got a bit carried away with myself as I have 2 xboxes with the same eeprom written on them,and a third xbox that is hardmodded with the eeprom same as the other two.Here is my problem.I use the hdm 1.9 and everything copys to a new hdd.
  when I come to lock it,it has security issues with the drives that I am using,saying that they are frozen,and also in your tut,I don't see the after effects of locking the drive.Is it suppossed to say locked,or does it just come up with the locking psswd etc?I have been trying smaller drives out first so I don't mess up the 160 gb one that I have full of games in the hardmodded one.
  Once again I would greatly appreciate your help on this!!!

  my xsons xbox will not connect to xbox live i have been told its the box it self any ideas or a cure its not the net as my wii will connect and its not the cables as we have bought new ones he even brought it to a mates house and still no joy is it a n internal ccard maybe ?? any help appreciated

  Hi Chunkhead. Maybe you can steer me in the right direction. I've read for hours and I'm still a little lost as to how to fix my xbox. I tried to softmod it a while back and had an issue with the video output after doing so. Unfortunately, I FTP'd to the box and started messing with files. So now my xbox will load at first, but no longer loads any console. No error codes either, it just sits on the xbox logo. I attempted the hot swap method, but xboxhdm said my drive was locked when I attempted to rebuild. I also hot swapped and tried to use Explorer360, which didn't recognize a FATX drive present. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
