I have 3 of these GSA-4167B drives , I updated all 3 to DL12, NONE have any trouble reading or Burning. PM me if you want help. I don't reply to personal email addys. It's a privacy thing. Nothing personal.

I picked up the MAGNAVOX DVD+R from office max on friday for $13.99. I Have burned about 8 of them with no problems on any. Im using a Optiarc burner that came with the Dell. (Might be a generic NEC brand), Software im using is dvdshrink, AnyDVD and dvdclone for the burn. Quality seems fine to me. Again-No Problems. Noticed magnavox dvds were made in Taiwan if anyones interested.

The latest firmware for the GSA-4167B is DL13. It appears this is a final update. The 4167B will burn the latest Verbatim DVD+R DL at 4X stable burn!
Playback is perfect ! :) The drive is rock solid and reads & burns anything I put in it. Nice Job LG!

I've been observing your replies and you appear to be very knowledgable, you've probably forgotten more about all of this than I will ever know but here goes.

I'm not having success with DVD decryptor on new releases since you can't get updates any longer.I downloaded a free trial of Any DVD. Seemed to download OK, loaded a Movie, opened Any DVD, can't get it to do anything? Can you help? Thank you!

When using AnyDVD, you must make sure the Red Fox Head is in your system tray and He's BRIGHT RED before inserting the source disc. Let him turn pink, the BRIGHT RED again, AnyDVD has done it's job! If there ae any issues with the source, AnyDVD will notify you quickly. Always stay updated. Check often. Even if you have the "Trial Version". My Best Advice: BUY IT! You'll thank yourself many time over! It will more than pay for itself in Time Saved! Use with CloneDVD 2 for best results!
