One Month Sabbatical From AfterDawn

18 Feb 2007 1:13 (Edited: 18 Feb 2007 1:13)

From tomorrow I will commencing my Studies in The TESOL course i had mentioned before in earlier blogs a few months ago. I will be studying this TESOL course for a six week period and also at the same time at the same college I will be completing my I.T Certificate II. This is will also take roughly the same amount of time. So i will be quite tied up with using my cranium in other ways from tomorrow so I will be away from aD for about a month. I may post off and on every now and then maybe during this coming month all depending on my workload.

I will come back after this month thats for sure but i need this time to focus on my studies and basically its going to be a career change for me because i have just had enough of working in the community services industry and thats not because i did not enjoy myself. I will explain my reasons in blogs after this months periods.

So for now borhan is signing off temporarily but will be back soon...

Love you all :)

Just an update to this blog. I made it to TAFE today and i had one of the organsiers call me and say that the class is on one hour later. Which will make me 2 hours late to the I.T class i have to attend afterwards and i have to play catch up drastically. So much for killing two birds with one stone as they say i will still do it but its going to be more intense than i expected.

Good luck with both courses. Since I am working pretty much full time and getting my master's degree, I know how hard it is to spend a lot of time studying. Will they still let you take both classes is you're two hours late to the IT class? As far as working in IT versus working in coommunity services, a friend of mine did that a few years ago. He was running a branch of a nonprofit community service agency and barely making enough money to live on. When he got married, he wanted to be able to take better care of his new wife than that, since even with her job it was a real struggle for them to get by. So he went back and learned a whole lot of IT stuff and now he is responsible for keeping one of the big phone companies' computer system's up and running across the state of California. They have a big beautiful house up near San Francisco now. And considering that their three children have had various health problems, it is a good thing he has been able to make enough money to afford their care. For those of us still working with kids, it's the sad truth that our society doesn't place as much monetary value on what we do as on those who work with computers. At least as a teacher, once I get my master's degree I will be paid much better than my friend was being paid, even though what he did was just as important. I do not say this to critcize your choices at all, I think we all need to do what it right for us and sometimes, like with my friend, plans for the future can onlyl be accomplished by making choices like he did. If there is any criticism at all it is of society. Besides, even if you enjoyed your work, you may have other reasons besides the money to want to leave it. I am a firm believer that we must do what's right for us and not let others make us give up our dreams. So good luck, and remember, the hardest part of the work is temporary but the rewards will be long lasting!!
