My Sister's Computer

17 Feb 2007 17:17 (Edited: 17 Feb 2007 17:17)

Yesterday and Today I have been fixing my sister's computer and it was more complicated than i fist expected. I basically had to fix her Anti Virus Software which I did and everything was fine. Then she kept on getting this little yellow rectangle on her task bar mentioning that she had RAM problems. Low memory etc...

So I googled the error and found out that it was all about her RAM. So yesterday I went to the computer shop and bought some compatible RAM for her computer and I put it in. Then plugged everything back in and then turned it on and then the computer gave me three warning beeps. I turned off the PC and then refitted the RAM again but this time the motherboard did not respond to the hard drive and did not generate the lights. So I thought I would test the RAM and i put it in this computer that I have built. (The one mentioned in my blog called My New Build.) I put it in and it ran fine and now i have my new build with 2gigs of RAM for the time being.

For the first 2 hours this morning from 8am to 10am I thought how can i get my sister to use her system without having issues. It came to me that i could put her hard drive in my machine (not this one) and take my drive out and just her drive in my tower. It worked all in all the only hiccup I had after that was everything loaded and then Windows came up and said i have to activate it again. So a phone call to Microsoft was in needed. I called and I basically had to change the CD Key and give them the confirmation numbers again which took awhile but i got there and then it loaded everything :)

So now she has her computer but in my case and using the hardware in that machine :)

So now its ready for her to pick up when she comes back from dads and takes it back to her dorm :)

Side Note
I have had so much happen in the last two weeks that i will blog when ever I get a chance.
