Finally Made It To AfterDawn Addict

(28 Apr 2007 17:58)

Well this blog is just to celebrate my milestone of AfterDawn Addict. It has been a great slog to get here but i gotta say i enjoyed the journet thoroughly. I remember when i first started i came here only to figure out how to back up a DVD. Now I am still here and have gained so much more and hopefully I have returned all the hard work the old timers here at aD have put in to help me out.

I can not believe that i have been here for two years learning and divulging my knowledge or limited knowledge i have. :)

The milestone was achieved last night some time i just was answering some of the threads i was helping out on and went to my profile page and saw that my status had changed.

May i say it has been a great pleasure helping out here and i plan to continue to do as far as i can.

Thank you to all that have made me feel welcome here and thank you for those who have challenged me. It has been a wonderful experience.

Hope too see you all around...

Movie Review: The Prestige

(26 Apr 2007 22:36)

Last night mum and I finally sat down and got around to watch the Prestige. In the beginning I was finding it very hard to get into and i found it too be slow. At points in the movie i was pressing the osd button to see how much of this long ass movie is left. (Thats what i felt at the time)

Anyways it slowly started to grow on me and i started to get into it. The movie had so many twisits and turns and kept you guessing and you needed to be on your toes to keep up. I had to rewind at times for my mum cause she had missed a piece of the dialog or something.

The movie was slow and steady wins the race. About half way i really go into it and i could not stop watching till the end. It's one of those movies that you keep trying to guess the ending or reasons behind something that has happened. (My guess mind you turned out to be semi correct) This movie is like a cross between magic and time travel or some kind of science fiction movie. Gave me the same feeling that the Time Machine did but i never got to finishing that movie.

This movie was directed by the same director that made Batman Begins and it has the same feel to it. But I do have to recommend this movie to everyone. It starts like a period piece and after awhile you don't realize and you forget about the time it was made in.

This movie had me guessing like the first Saw Movie and at the end i was like wow!!

Get this movie and what it in a group and always be on the lookout, cause if you think you know the story i can garentee you don't.

My Rating is 8/10

A must see.

Easter Show Day Out

(17 Apr 2007 23:37)

Last Wednesday I took myself and my client down to the Easter Show and I thought it would be a great change to what we normally do. My client loved the idea and off we went and the first thing that really got to me that day was the weather it was hot and stinky and we were going to the show and the show is full of animals and therefore more stink.

So we got our tickets from the train station here in Australia Sydney we have this thing called showlink tickets and we pay $25.50 and that covers train fare and entry and that is also discounted for pensioners.

We got there and it was like ants people everywhere and before we even got in i was looking for the exit sign but what kept me going was the fact that i was getting paid to take him out and it wouldn't be fair on my client. So i just podded along.

I was amazed just walking along how big and vast the show has become in the years i have not attended. I remember going when i was a child and thinking it was big and busy then i was mistaken by a long shot. It has astronomically increased in size, cost and commercialisms that has taken over the show.

The main thing was that my client was having fun and thats what counts.

We had lunch and that cost $10 and that was on the cheap as they say when u go to shows like that.

We played the git the gong with the hammer thing and the thing goes up and tells you how high you can get it. I managed a high if 68 and my clients got a 70 something.

Then after eating my client wanted to go on rides and i said no cause we just at and i did not want my client to get sick while on the rides so we just stood and observed the rides and walked around and even saw the bunnies they were cute.

So after that my client said lets go and so we did i couldn't find the exit quick enough. So by that time it was 1pm and i asked my client what do u want to do next and my client said lets head back so we did and i took my client home and by the time we ended the day it was 2pm.

I did not even get a show bag what a shame. Well for those prices do u blame me :P

Anyways thats one of the many new things that i have done recently. I will post new blogs when other things happen in due time.

ciao for now...

My TESOL Practical

(05 Apr 2007 18:01)

Yesterday I had my TESOL Practical lesson. I was full of excitement nerves and a little bit of uncertainty what to expect. I started the class with the typical way of saying "Good Morning" and then i did a icebreaker so i could learn all their names which was difficult when it came to some of their names but i apologized beforehand if i don't remember their names. The icebreaker consisted of just saying their names and what Australian Animal do they like the best. Then I got one of the pictures that i had printed of Australian Animals and started the vocabulary part of the lesson. I asked the class to describe the picture of the animal they saw. All of them started big, 4 legs got hair (maine) and tail etc.. it was going great. Then after they built their vocab of how to describe how the horse looks like etc... I handed out other pictures of Australian Animals and got them to describe the picture to the other person so i got them in to pairs and they really looked like they enjoyed that activity of the class. :)

After that I started on the main part of the lesson. I gave them all a text about the Toronga Zoo Elephants and their trip from Thailand. I asked them to read the text first and then i waited for about 10 minutes for them to skim read the text but it seemed they were reading the text word for word cause they really like the story. After the time i stopped them and went through the vocabulary of the text and this part of going through the vocab really took most of the lesson time up which was amazing cause their was only 7 students in class. So i went through the text and explained and i and the other Teacher wrote the meanings of the word on the board and this took about over an hour and by the end of this we had 30 minutes left for me to teach the rest of what i had planned and i asked the teacher can i bypass the grammar section cause there would not be enough time to go through that. The Teacher said just go through the questions and answers and then do the warm down activity. So i did that.

They did well in answering the questions from the text that may i add that i had not simplified and kept it in its original form. They did very well in reading and had a little difficulty with pronucation but with the teacher and i assisting and i also had a teacher aid to help one of the other students their so i was full of support it was the best atmosphere and it all worked.

At the end we did the warm down activity that was just a few questions about pets and if they had any and how many what where their names questions like that.

One of the students answered the question of do you have any pets as yes and the type of pet surprised us and the student said that they have flies as a pet and that they keep it in a bottle and do not feed them and after awhile he just kills them :)

So all the class enjoyed that little pet story.

Last week was the last week of our actual TESOL classes and we went out as a class and had dinner and just was glad to be done with the class although it was fun and enjoyable we had a nice time out we went out to one of the local pubs and had a feed. Some drank and some did not.

I don't Drink for 2 reasons.

1. I don't drink because of My religion. I am a Baha'i (It is against our religion to drink alcohol)

2. I have a disability and i dont want to add more problems to myself although i walk like i am drunk anyway soo i rather be sober and walk like a drunk :)

At the end of the TESOL practical class the teacher was very happy and pleased as to how i taught and understood why i missed the grammar part of the class and i told her if i had another class i would cover the grammar as in 2 classes in a row. Basically all the teachers feedback was positive the aspect of my teaching that she really liked was my ability to adapt to changes. We sat and had a nice little chat and the only downside to the class was that i need to work on more board work and she was not worried about that cause that was a small aspect to the class.

The teacher told me that i will not have any problems and that was because i have the youth work background and i had mentioned that i do a lot of group work as a youth worker and also as a Bahai Scripture teacher soo all in all she loved the class i ran. She aaid it was very appropriate and activities were suitable for their levels. She told me the text was difficult but they managed with it well but the thing i could do was simplify it so all in all Good outcomes.

MY I.T TAFE Course

(03 Apr 2007 19:13)

I just got the best phone call just about 10 minutes ago. :) It all started yesterday night when i was asking my I.T Teacher how much of the course and how many subjects do i have left to complete my Certificate 2 in I.T. He told me that i will check tomorrow and let you know and he checked and rang me up just as i said 10 minutes ago. He basically said that i do not have to come to class today because get this. I have already done what i needed to to pass the subjects i had to do for Wednesday.

My teacher said that i have been given a distinction and an ungradded pass for the Wednesday class. So then i asked my teacher what do i need to complete the certificate he said i only have basically one subject left and that is only on Monday.

So for the time being i just have 5 weeks left of my I.T class and then i will get my cert. It feels great :)
