School or work blocking your favorite sites?!

08 Jun 2007 13:56 (Edited: 08 Jun 2007 13:56)

I've just found out that a lot of people are complaining that their school's or work are using various programs to block certain sites such as Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, and others, mainly because they can be quite distracting. Seems as if not too many people have heard of proxy sites...basically, you get on a site and you can search other sites THROUGH the proxy site you are on. So if the proxy site isn't blocked, none of the sites you visit on it will be blocked :)

I've found 1 decent proxy site...I've found others before but I don't remember their names. Basically, when 1 gets blocked from my school, I just find another one. I'll try to get a list of sites for you guys if they are needed.

How do they block phrases? So if you were to type something in, it will be blocked before any website will receive it? That's weird...
