Wild gaming nights part II

26 Dec 2007 7:39 (Edited: 26 Dec 2007 7:39)

There are many classic computer and video games, but it seems that some games have become godlike because peer pressure and others because of very good game design and developer support.

Yesterday I had my first date with StarCraft. StarCraft was released 1998 and for years I have wanted to play the game because Blizzard Entertainment created it and because so many good things I have heard about it.

Blizzard has created so many good games during these years (Diablo and WarCraft franchises) so my expectations were high. And I wasn't disappointed. Game from year 1998 can be installed to Windows Vista without any problems. It has Spawn install mode, so one copy is enough for you LAN party. Latest patch to game is from this year! That is truly good support game that is over 9 years old.

UDP support for LAN gaming (Red Alert 1, 2 and C&C 1, 2 only have IPX/SPX which isn't officially supported in Vista). Game has waypoints, build orders, 3 different parties which have completely different playstyles and tactics, that good Blizzard humour etc. Amazing stuff for game that was released over 9 years ago. And it still works without a hitch.
