Lost in translation

20 Mar 2007 8:02 (Edited: 20 Mar 2007 8:02)

When traveling abroad one of the biggest issues is language barrier. In Germany people speak German pretty well and also they think that I am German or speak German even if I say "English please". Some even continue to talk in German after they hear my words. So this one of those moments that I wish I had studied German in school. Specially in expo are many shows and brochures are in German and because of this I miss most competitions and events. I watch them and understand few words here but language barrier is just too high.

I don't want to offend Germans (or anyone else) but it feels bit strange to watch local TV channels when they have dubbed almost every TV program. Because that I haven't really watch TV lately. I fix it when I get back home and watch 8 days TV programs from tape. Before that I try to enjoy from the cultural richness of German language.

Schnell Buffy, schnell!
