Guide on how to update your PSP to 3.52m33-4 and then to 3.71m33-4 or 3.90m33-3 :)

12 Feb 2008 15:16 (Edited: 12 Feb 2008 15:16)

UPDATE : (31/3/2008)
-Added guide for updating to 3.90m33 :)
-Fixed spelling mistakes :P
-Some minor editing :)
-Added 3.90m33-2 link :)
-Replaced '3.90m33-2' link with '3.90m33-3' link and changed the title :)

GUIDE :
-Update to 3.52m33
-First of all, download the 3.52m33 update from HERE and extract it ^_^
-If you are on "1.50" firmware, then, copy the "kxploitpatcher" and "kxploitpatcher%" folders in the "1.50only" folder that you got in the 3.52m33 file you downloaded, to your "X:/PSP/GAME" (where "X" is your PSP drive letter)
-Now, run the program in your PSP ^_^
Note : The above two steps are only required on 1.50 firmware PSPs :)
If you have custom firmware, then no need for doing the above two steps :)

-Now, download the official 3.52 firmware update from HERE and the official 1.50 firmware update from HERE
-Then, rename the 3.52 update to "352.PBP" and the 1.50 update to "150.PBP" ^_^
-Then, place both these files in the "M33CREATOR" folder found in the 3.52m33 file you extracted earlier ^_^
-Then copy the "M33CREATOR" folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" ("X:/PSP/GAME150" if on "custom firmware") folder of your PSP ^_^
-Run the '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under the 'GAME' option of your PSP ^_^
-Then you will get a file named '3.52 M33UPDATE' ^_^
-Run the '3.52 M33UPDATE' ^_^
-Once finished, the installer will ask you to press the "X" or "O" button on your PSP (Do this step or else your PSP will brick) >_<
-Enjoy, you have 3.52m33 now ^_^
-You can format your memory stick if you want ^_^

*Now, update your 3.52m33 firmware to 3.52m33-4*
*HERE is the 3.52m33-4 update*
________________________________________________
-Update to 3.71m33
Now, if you want to go to 3.71m33, then :-
-Download 3.71m33 from HERE
-Download the official 3.71 firmware update from HERE
-Rename the 3.71 update to "371.PBP" and copy the file to the "UPDATE" folder of the 3.71m33 file you downloaded ^_^
-Then copy the "UPDATE" folder to the "X:/PSP/GAME" folder of your PSP ^_^
-Then make sure you've configured your PSP GAME folder to run on 3.52 kernel in the recovery mode ^_^
To access recovery mode follow the following steps :-
1. Completely shut down your PSP (Not stand-by)
2. Hold the "R" button (i.e right trigger) while starting your PSP ^_^
3. You are now on recovery mode
It should look something like THIS

Then go to "Configuration" and in "Game folder homebrew" option, switch to "3.52 kernel" ^_^
-Make sure your battery is completely charged (You need 78% battery for the update)
-Then run the Update ^_^
-Press X, and the Sony updater will begin. Sit and enjoy while Sony code installs 3.71 M33 :)
-When finished, the updater will ask you to reboot (pressing X or O). DO IT. Do not skip this step or else your PSP will brick !!! >_<
-You should now be on 3.71 M33 8)

Now, download the 3.71m33-4 update from HERE
After you download the file, you'll get a folder named "UPDATE" :)
Juz copy that folder to your "X:\PSP\GAME" folder of your PSP and run it from the "GAME" option of your PSP :)
You're PSP is now updated to 3.71m33-4 :)

If you want, you can put the 1.50 kernel for 3.71m33 if you play 1.50 homebrew apps and games but this is only for the PSP Classic and not the PSP slim >_>
HERE is the 1.50 kernel update for 3.71m33 ^_^

I recommend that you remain at 3.71m33-4 because 3.80m33-5 still has bugs :P
3.90m33 is stable and popsloader too has been released for it :) [The "3.80 popsloader v2" also works on 3.90m33]
But 3.90m33 has some problems reading big memory sticks (4GB and above)
That can be fixed by the "fatmsmod patch" but as the readme says, it MAY have some side-effects on your PSP

-Make sure your battery is completely charged (You need 78% battery for the update)
-Then run the Update ^_^
-The update will be done by Sony updater :)
